Oh, ok. Thanks ! Do you know if there are any tests

available to detect Still's autoantibodies at this time?

Thanks Caroline! I have in fact read the info on

www.stillsdisease.org, but what it said is that it's still unknown, so

I was wondering if there was any new info on it.

is a rare form of arthritis first described in Children. There are

many theories, but in truth the cause of Stills is still unknown. It

is an auto immune disease because the body turns on itself. There is

a lot of information on the subject as www.stillsdisease.org as I am

sure you know. I have done lots of research online and it seems

everyone who has information on Stills got it from OUR web site. =)

No there are no tests yet because no antibodies for aosd have been discovered,

the closest to a test has been the detection of a genetic polymorphism on the

Interleuken 18 cytokine, If you have a diplotype configuration of S01/S01it is

thought to be a major genetic risk factor for susceptibility to AOSD. This is

from a recent study.

Thanks for this info, .

But if there are no antibodies found yet, how is the medical community

determining that Still's is in fact autoimmune? Not that I doubt it,

but just wondering what the docs think about what Still's is. I'm

gonna ask my RD when I see him on the 15th too.

because aosd is the same disease as systemic juvenile ra which is considered

autoimmune, one reason the website doesnt say much about it being autoimmune is

because I could never really find a definite answer until recently which was

from Dr. Cush, one of our members is his patient and she asked him about it and

he said yes aosd is autoimmune until then we weren't really sure one way or the

other
