Carolyn,

My 9yr old daughter has Asp. and she also has Eczema.

What's worse is she absolutely hates lotion. I have

her soak in the Aveeno bath stuff which helps. My 6yr

old is very noise sensitive & won't eat crackers or

cookies because they are too noisy in her head when

she chews. I thought that was maybe the reason your

grandson also dislikes those things. Both my girls are

extremely picky eaters & complain about smells that no

one else smells. My 9yr old takes meds too help with

her moods & anxiety.

They make a huge difference.

My Matt has always struggled with eczema as well, and lots of allergies (food and environmental). Like the Asperger's and Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome weren't enough, huh? I always attributed his eczema to his fair skin (he is a fair skinned red head). And he has many skin reactions to things....certain laundry detergents (Tide is the worst), he is also allergic to mosquito bites and sunscreens. He gets terrible hives and welts from sunscreen. And being a fair skinned red head, we have always been concerned about sunburn. Our answer was to keep him out of the sun vigilantly. And keep his skin covered and head covered with a hat. That has been the only solution. Anyway, he always resisted lotions and creams to take care of his eczema and skin reactions. He hated the greasy heavy feel of them, probably due in part to sensory issues. We FINALLY found one that he actually likes, and I

wanted to pass on the name in case you want to try it out. It's only available thru prescription, so see your dermatologist if you want more info. The name of the lotion is Cutivate (fluticosone propionate). Warning though, it is EXPENSIVE....a 60 ml. bottle is about $105, but we paid $30 with our prescription plan. Hi ,

Thankyou for the response, I had not thought about the crunchy crackers being too noisy for him. You know now that you mention it, he does like to eat softer stuff. The other day he was getting whiney and I knew he was getting hungry so I put him in his high chair and warmed up two jars of toddler food for him. I was shoveling it in, and he didn't really like it, but I think was so hungry he didn't care.

Then I had the idea maybe he would like it better if I warmed it up more, well that was a mistake. The change in the routine stopped the momentum, and I kind of knew it would happen. He refused anymore, and I poured what was left back in one jar, so could measure he had eaten one jar, so was happy. And I gave the rest to the cat.

I had eczema as a kid, all over my inner arms, we think it was because I was allergic to wool. But Lucas had his shortly after he was born, on his face. And a couple of times it got in his eyes, and got infection and he had to go on antibiotic. I guess his dad had this kind, the doctor said it is on the spectrum of allergy type of things, like asthma, hay fever, and his mom, and me, and his sister all have those things in varying degrees.

He is just a little different than the other two were, or my four kids, so I am wondering why. Maybe it is nothing. Like with Lucas's brother, , he is 6 now, he was just craaaaaaazy about his pacifier, and a little fuzzy blanket, had them both with him all the time since he was born at the hospital, but little Lucas could not stand it in his mouth, never wanted the pacifier at all, had a blankie for awhile, but wasn't too attached to it.
