Guest guest
I just wanted to share what my husband and I were told at Ella's first appointment on Tuesday at Cincinnati Children's (maybe what we were told will help someone else). Bit of background, since we're new here: Ella just turned 5 months old on the day of her appointment. She was diagnosed with IS at 4 1/2 months old, with a curve of 31. When preparing for her appointment I was fully prepared to push for her to be casted soon. I had all my research and facts lined up, ready to argue if necessary. None of that turned out to be needed. After examining her the doctor said he felt she was a good candidate for casting. Now. I was so surprised. I expected him to say " let's wait and see. " I actually said this to him and he said no, because he's seen so many cases not get any better, but instead get much worse. He also read her curve at a 40, not a 31 (that's why I love someone who specializes in this!). I'm very pleased with the advice we got and are currently scheduled to have her first cast put on on March 5th. I'm hopeful. I'm anxious about what " cast life " is going to be like, but that's the best option I see and I pray it'll work for her!
