Hello,

We are making plans to head to Greenville SC for 's #8 cast! I can hardly

believe we have been doing this so long. I have a concern about my being

sooo skinny!!! Every time he comes out of another cast his little body seems to

get thinner and thinner. Does this seem to be the case with any of your

children? is 2 1/2 and is very active for a child in a cast ( in my

opinion) You can see every rib and I worry that he doesn't have enough fat or

muscle to keep him safe from falls when he is out of his cast. I'm having a

really hard time dealing when he gets these casts off because all I see is a

really bad curve and a skinny little boy. We started all of this when he was 17

months old and he was chubby and still a baby really! I just need to know that

we are doing to right thing!!! I feel so helpless as I sit here and sob.

This last cast was a little different from the others in that when the doc cut

the D hole in the back he cut it directly over his curve not on the opposite

side like he had always done in the past. I questioned the nurse about it and

spoke to the doc on the phone about it ( he was still in the casting room with

other patients) he told me that he thought it was fine and that it just allowed

us to get back there and do something for him if we needed to. I know that the

D is to de-rotate the spine but I just thought that maybe the doc should know a

little more about it than me!

So in a nut shell I'm concerned that I don't see improvement in 's spine

and that he is so stinking skinny! Help!
