Guest guest
Hello All I am pretty sure I know the answer to this one but would love some advice/support especially after reading about the child with the pressure sore ( I apologize I cannot remember the name). Binyamin who is 26 months old has his second cast on for approx 4 weeks. I noticed about three days ago a red area on his back ( crest of his pelvis) which I know is a stage 1 pressure sore ( I worked in rehabilitation with clients who have had all stages of pressure sores). There is really nothing to do since the cast is pressing into the bone exactly at that point. I went to a plastic surgeon yesterday who said watch it and he would trim the cast if I want. I figured I would wait a few days but I am getting very nervous. Once these sores get past stage 1 it snowballs and then we have to wait to cast until all clear. My gut( based on knowledge) is to try to trim the cast today ( the doctor or we will cut it) and if not just cut the cast off and try to get recasted next week. Dr. C in Shriners Phili said we can see him but we are just trying to avoid the 2 hour drive ( just to look, for casting we will drive wherever!!) thanks in advance and I appreciate the responses as this is definitely a time sensitive issue.... Zehava mom to Binymanim starting at 58 degree curve, no change in first cast, but hoping for better!!!!
