Hi ,

We did the same thing as , we'd pull the knit rite shirt down and flip it back up over the brace. A couple of other things we've learned on our 'journey' is to use moleskin on the parts of the brace that are really tight to the skin (we did armpits and hips) as this was much softer than the plasticy inside of the brace. One of my biggest complaints with the brace was it would ruin his shirts and undies, rubbing the velcro and causing little holes which led to bigger holes. So, about 4 months ago, we decided to put one of the brace shirts under the brace, flip it back up at the bottom of the brace and put another brace shirt over the brace. This helped hold the under brace shirt in place too and since the brace shirts are so tight they dont 'rub' against the brace and get holes like a regular loose shirt would. Now, just so you know, we only did this for about 2 1/2 or 3

months as our little guy is no longer in a daytime brace, but it did seem to really help out. My only concern would be, if it would make the kids too hot in the summer?? Anyways, hope that helps a little. It's funny all of the strange little things that we all discover on this journey :)

Much Love~

I know we will be.having the same issue this summer when we have a cast break . When thaddeus was in a brace when he was younger he wore the knite rite shirt under the brace and they were long at the time so

we folded it up over the brace to make a bit of a cushion on the hip. You could try this and then put the undies over as well.

Just wondering how to do this potty training thing - Here is my problem: Abby is out of her casting now!!! YAY. She started out at 48 degrees and she is now 3.8 degrees in her brace!!! Anyway, I have started potty training her and she loves going and sitting on the potty. So, that is not the problem. The problem is that I have been just putting an undershirt on her under the brace and then putting training panties OVER the brace. This works out great because when we go to the potty, we can just pull down her panties and pull them back up without having to take the brace off. And we want to leave her brace on her as much as possible. The doctor only wants her out of it to bath if possible. BUT...since we are putting the panties OVER the brace, the brace has started making red irritated marks on her hips. I could put thin shorts on her underneath the brace to prevent the marks. But, then it would make it hard to go potty....ARGGHHHH. Anyone else had

this problem?? HELP!!!- , Mom to Abby (2 1/2 years, 48* down to 3.8* after 6 casts)

I have never heard of a knit rite shirt??? never been given any type of shirt

to go with the brace at all. I've just been told to buy tight fitting

undershirts and they aren't long enough. Where can I get a knit rite shirt?

If you go to the knit rite website you can find a local orthotics shop that should be able to help you order. From: juliechafin2005 <juliechafin2005@...> infantile scoliosis treatment Sent: Wednesday, February 29, 2012 11:19 AM Subject: Re: HELP with Dilemma!!!
