Thanks. We will ask our Dr on Tuesday when we see him and see if be know anything. I already know the TLSO is about 2500.00 and will be garbage once we.recast in September. That a expensive cast break!! But thaddeus needs to fully recover from hip surgery and now the broken femur so that's what is most important now. And the squishy hugs :-) Sent from Samsung Mobile

Most of the orthos I have spoken to do not prescribe it because they claim they have not seen any proof to date that the Spinecor brace works. I believe the one study on Spinecor was published by the makers of the brace. The few 'success stories' I have heard were of children with small curves to begin with so they may not have progressed anyway.

Unfortunately, much more often, I have heard of patients who wore the Spinecor (sometimes through the adolescent growth spurt) and progressed, many to the point of needing fusion.

One big issue I have with Spinecor is that x-rays are only taken in-brace. Every ortho I have spoken with insists that in order to get an accurate reading of a patient's curve the brace (any brace) must be removed for 24-48 hours prior to the x-ray.

I'm not trying to sound negative, just being candid. If it were my child I would not take a chance with Spinecor.

Best of luck.
