Guest guest
Perhaps you wouldn't mind identifying yourself. I am sure that many people will be glad to direct you, but in light of the " tense climate " in Ontario right now due to IBI , consultant qualifications, difficulty families are having and the fact that people within the autism industry are lurking on lists to get information that may or may not be used against people. Its sad it must be like this, everyone afraid to help someone else for fear of " less " for their child. It is so truely sad. I was curious where you have received your VB training? I was not aware that we have people in Ontario who were consulting on this level? If you are trained and have qualifications to meet IBI there are many families in S.O. looking for just such a person. I think people are trying to be careful of liable situations. Many of us have our opinions of the money being contracted out to an existing autism industry. Many of us have our opinions of the Geneva Center. What I can say is I have heard fairly decent things about Dr. Factor with Surrey Place. Without knowing alittle more of who you are, that is all I can share. respectfully, Norrah Whitney PS. will you be attending Dr. Carbones' workshop in Toronto ? Is the family aware of the upcoming workshop the end of February? There are two one is the introductory and the other is for families who do not have access to a consultant which is limited to a small group of participants to ensure maximum benefit to the people attending. Perhaps this may be an option for this family. I myself have not attended workshop number two but workshop number one in Orlando was worth every dime and more. I believe the Jericho web site will have the details in case your family may be interested. www.jerichoschool.org although with the child being in funding range their are certain restrictions with the IBI guidelines as I mentioned to " consultants " but of course that doesn't have to stop the family from furthering their knowledge of VB or enhance the direction of their program.... have a family with a child who has been in a home ABA program for about 4 months now. the family is moving to the Toronto area and is looking for a consultant to provide them with ABA services. i have run their program using Verbal Behavior and DTT/NET models. so, preferably, a consultant with VB experience would be best. do any of you have experiece with... SURREY PLACE or GENEVA CENTER???? or have any consultants you would recommend???? please e-mail me directly if you have opinions on providers to " stay away from. " thank you! <ABAinitia@...>
