Hey!Welcome! We live in northern NC and travel to greenville SC, shriners hospital for Logan's casting. There are no docs in NC that do casting. Wait, I think Duke just started this past November, but the do not have a lot of experience with the procedure. I think if you go north, Erie PA has a hospital and there seems to be another hospital in the DC area....I think. We started casting Logan at 9 months old. His curve was 45 degrees. He is now just out of his #11 and as of out of cast xray post #9 he was 9 degrees out of cast. It has been a LONG journey and we are still not through, but has been the best decision that we made for our lil boy. This group is full of wonderful people with wonderful advice! Good luck with you and your lil

boy! Attached pics: first two and 45 degrees and a lot of rotation.last 2 are where we are now and we keep praying its our final cast. =) Logan's mama (45 down to 9 out of cast, 2 years old) From: cynsereno <cynsereno@...> infantile scoliosis treatment Sent: Saturday, January 28, 2012 8:29 PM Subject: Introduction - Kenley 4 months old

We are going to Hopkins but he hasn't made any indication of whether he does the

casting or not. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for the quick reply, . I am glad to hear that Logan is doing so

well. If you don't mind my asking, at what age was Logan diagnosed and what

were the steps from initial diagnosis to casting treatment?

HelloWe too recently were diagnosed with infantile scoliosis at our daughters 5 year checkup. We went to children's in polis and saw Dr kelly then went to Shriners in Philadelphia . We ended up closer to home with Dr Blakemore at Children's in Fairfax. My daughter was casted on Monday at Children's in DC with Dr B and went from a 60 degree curve to 28 in cast . We loved Shriners in Philly and would have done the casting there if it were closer but after talking with the doctors at Children's and hearing they do the same Mehta casting techniques at Shriners we felt comfortable staying closer to home. We even spoke to the doctor at Shriners on the phone about going to children's and they were very familiar with the doctor there and made us feel comfortable using her. Out daughter was very comfortable with the entire process. We really liked the casting staff at fairfax who took care of trimming our daughter's cast the next day. She is loving her cast and handled everything so much better than we could imagine. Since we are in the northern va area too we would be more than happy to chat or meet if you need to go over anything or see our daughters cast, she loves showing it off!!! I know how upsetting and scary this is as well as overwhelming so please feel free to reach out or email me if you want.Good luckSent from my iPodOn Jan 28, 2012, at 8:29 PM, "cynsereno" <cynsereno@...> wrote:

Thank you Shana!

I appreciate the information. This is easing my mind a bit. We are seeing

another Dr. in the same practice as Dr. Blakemore.

I am glad to hear that your daughter is doing well with her cast.....I would

love the opportunity to meet with you and really appreciate the offer.

I will keep you posted on the outcome of the appt tomorrow.

This is good info! If you can find the

list of hospitals, please add to it. I hadn’t heard about Children’s in Fairfax.

HiThe Children's in Fairfax is a complex of doctor offices that house doctors who work at the hospital in DC. They only do the casting in DC but have offices all over MD and VA. The convenient part of this was when we had to go back for the trimming of the cast we were able to go to Fairfax offices and not have to go back to the hospital. Take careShanaSent from my iPodOn Jan 29, 2012, at 11:56 AM, "SR Clancy" <svale88@...> wrote:
