Lifting by cast?

Hi everyone,

When your children were first placed into their casts, did medical staff advise

you not to lift your children by their casts? Has anyone else noticed how

challenging it can be to lift a toddler in a cast without disclocating the

child's shoulders?

Has anyone encountered or heard of a child's casting being affected by someone

lifting him or her by the cast? Could that render the treatment ineffective??

Just wondering...

Hi there.

My son, , is in his first cast right now. My husband asked that

very question. Our doctor, Dr. C, at Shriner's in Philly assured us that it was

no problem. He is very experienced in the Mehta casting process. He said that

the cast was snug enough to not be moved/twisted by simply lifting the child.

Hope that helps!
