Why do we need to soak the almonds and chick peas before use, ? Where can i buy suitable coconut flour and oil [ luckily i have a few packets of rice flour left and i was going to order another order to be shipped over to me......so i will order the coconut ingredients... Do u recommend anything else regarding the SCD diet...... thanks again for help xxxxxx Re: Mandi Date: Sat, 15 May 2010 19:35:21 -0000 > I've not followed this thread completely, sorry, but if there are gut issues they can certainly be related to lectins in things like chickpeas and unsoaked almonds. > > I had to google Spry. I'd never heard of it and I found out Cyprus is apparently the only place you can still buy it. I personally think that high fat diets are good for most kids with ASD, but the fats have to be good fats: coconut, fat from organic and pastured animals, butter from organic and pastured cows, fish oils, etc. Most processed fats probably wouldn't be considered good fats and rather than aiding detox and building strong cells, are likely doing the opposite. A lot of kids also need to be taking lipase and making supporting bile production too, for proper absorption. > > I have said this before, but I'll agree here that gf/cf diets often don't have any healing components to them. > > If you can get coconut flour and coconut oil and your child tolerates nuts (soaked and then dried would be my recommendation, but if the gut is in rough shape, I would leave nuts out for at least a few months) there are lots of good SCD recipes for cookie-ish things. > > Anita > > > > > > > > I would honestly take those cookies out, my boy would be doubled over > > eating that much fat, someone must have a recipe for cookies that would be > > better [i don't as we don't eat cookies].
