Guest guest
Hmmmm…Do you have copies of Eliza’s most recent films, by chance? When are you scheduled for a follow-up appt.?HRH From: infantile scoliosis treatment [mailto:infantile scoliosis treatment ] On Behalf Of e BallardSent: Tuesday, October 25, 2011 8:24 PMinfantile scoliosis treatment Subject: Introduction My name is e. My daughter Eliza is 3 1/2 months old and was diagnosed with scoliosis at 2 months. Her first appointment with a specialist was yesterday. I went in feeling very prepared thanks to ISOP. The doctor was very nice and was familiar with Mehta casting techniques but not how Dr. Mehta measures the RVAD in infants. Luckily I had her article with me and the doctor happily read it and took the measurements. So far we know that Eliza's curve is 15 degrees and her RVAD was only 8 so signs point to a resolving curve. She said it was odd though because the angel of the ribs on the convex side was bigger than the concave side. Also, her x-ray revealed that she has spina bifida occultus (which the doctor felt was a benign finding) but still ordered an ultrasound to rule out a tethered spinal cord. (She said ultrasound is as effective as an MRI in such a young infant). The doctor yesterday also found torticollis. She is thinking that the scoliosis is more neuromuscular. She wants Eliza to do PT for the torticollis and scoliosis but feels it will resolve as she grows stronger. Does anyone have experience with this type of curve or know where I can find more information? Thank you in advance! e
Guest guest
I do have copies of her x-ray. The doctor wanted do a follow up in 6 months. Our family is moving to Utah at the end of December so she referred us to Shriners in SLC for our follow up (which sounds like a great thing from the positive things I've read about them here). Do you suggest we send the films ahead and see what Shriners thinks? eFrom: Hyatt <heather@...>To: infantile scoliosis treatment Sent: Thursday, October 27, 2011 10:24 AMSubject: RE: Introduction e & Eliza Hmmmm…Do you have copies of Eliza’s most recent films, by chance?
