Limping child after 3rd Mehta Cast Question

Hi everyone,

My daughter Nia Elisse is being treated at the Texas ish Rite hospital in Dallas. We started casting her at 11 months old back in August 2011, and she had a 51 degree curve in her spine. She is now in her 3rd mehta cast, but with this cast, I have a major concern/worry. I noticed the week we got Nia's cast, that her right leg is slightly slanted inward. When she walks, her hip/leg area is leaning towards the right. I've never had this problem with the other 2 casts she had, and she walked very straight. Now I know that the right side of the cast is heavier, because Nia's curve is on the left, so they always make the cast heavier on the opposite side of the cast to correct the spine. I brought up the concern with the hospital, and even drove to Dallas so they could slightly trim the cast since Nia has been falling to the right side alot lately, but it hasn't helped. My baby has been walking this way for 22 days now, and

it makes me so scared :-( My concern is that maybe the cast is too heavy for her little body, and I don't want her leg bones to form crocked. At the same time I know she needs to continue to wear the cast. I feel like i'm up against the wall with this, and don't know what to do. I brought up my concern with the dr. that's treating my baby, but he just says that it's all alright. Somehow in my mommy gut, I still don't feel good about this, but don't know quite what to do. Please give me some feedback on what you guys think. I know this is a very hard and scary thing for all of us to go through with a child that has Scoliosis, so I really appreciate all of your opinions and comments. Thank you so much!
