Guest guest
Forgot to mention our plans are to brace in the summer and cast in the winter, if all goes well with the brace, if not, back to casting full-time! > > Our doctor wants us to start bracing Abigail at the end of April..I'm not sure why, I think perhaps to give her rib cage room to grow as it looks smaller in portion to the rest of her body? Abigail has held steadily at around 38 degrees and gets down to 12* in cast and her rotation is slowly improving. We are scared to death to move into a brace and see progression. > > Looking for good/bad experiences with a Boston Brace, as this is the one her ortho wants to put her into. We are also thinking about going with a Rigo-Cheneau but we would have to pay $4,000 out of pocket every year as our insurance won't cover it. Would like to hear others experiences before committing to it. Also I have heard from a fellow mom they use a computer model to make the brace? Is this prefered over molding? > > Any other good options? > > Thank you so much! > > -Ami > > Abigail- almost 5 years old : ) " S " curve treated at boston childrens >
Guest guest
, Thank you that was incredibly helpful! We also have clothing dilemas and do a lot of dresses and leggings..don't think your son will go for that though! lol I read recently that the Boston Brace Co. trained 2 ortho's in the Rigo-Cheneau technique..it makes me feel better that perhaps they are making a better brace! The reason we were so interested in the Cheneau brace is b/c my daughter has rotation still and we know the boston braces don't target rotation as much..perhaps that is changing. Thank you for sharing your experience with the modeling..it does impact my decision on which way to go and I had a feeling the plaster would be the better option but really wasn't sure about the difference between them.. Here's hoping that brace holds for him! : ) thank you again, -Ami > > > > Our doctor wants us to start bracing Abigail at the end of April..I'm not sure why, I think perhaps to give her rib cage room to grow as it looks smaller in portion to the rest of her body? Guest guest
When Liv was in brace, I preferred it to be a properly molded one. Although, Liv had high and severe curve(s) that a computer generated brace wouldn’t have touched. I would suspect that computer generated braces may work for curves with lower degrees…(?)
