Hello,

My daughter is in her second cast. She had no problems with her first cast in

terms of cast sores or pressure points, but in this cast she is having problems

with both. We have taken her back to Rochester twice for trimming to correct

her pressure points, but we are still having some issues.

Can anyone recommend any ways to treat either of these issues? We are looking

for anything that has worked for you! Violet's cast isn't scheduled to be

changed until October 26th!

Thank you!

Liz

When we has cast sores it was primarily due to the heat and rubbing. We used a

variety of things! I liked tough pads by and and Curad nonstick

tab w adhesive tab. We also really used pliers to bend the cast.

Who do you see?  Dr. S or Dr. R?  We see Dr. S and we had one of 2 cast sores he had every had and ours was pretty bad.  What they said to do was use xeroform - get it from the pharmacy.  cover it in a sterile medical pad -then use medical tape - the fabric type so it won't hurt when you pull it off.  No ointments or creams were necessary.  We changed it every day.  We have never had a problem getting in early if we have needed it.  I would call.  Let me know if you want to chat or have more questions.
