Guest guest
Hi Toots - How are you ????? Wow you smoke 2 to 4 packs of cigs a day no wonder you are on inhalers. must be sitting there just shaking his head being a respiratory therapist. You got me and Patty Pooh beat. I'm still trying to cut down. I wanna breathe better not smell like an ashtray and it's to expensive for me with all that money going up in smoke. It's a damn hard bad habit to break !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have always lived in a fog and can't tell the difference but some days the fog gets thicker. The 3 D's have less than 3 letters in their names that confuses the hell out of me especialy when I'm on a roll. Love and Hugs. Deb

Guest guest
I have to give that one a couple of shakes.I come from a family of smokers and spent 25 years as a Respiratory Therapist. I feel so lucky to have never smoked and I understand how terribly addictive it is. Only a small percentage of those who try to quit succeed so I know I would have never made it as an ex smoker. Even if you don't quit, try cutting back. There are transplant centers who are starting to not list smokers and I wonder if we will see that trend come to DR's that treat. I don't judge anyone, but I have seen the long term effects and it is not pretty,so I would just wish anyone that wants to quit the best. Heyyyyyy D Hi Toots - How are you ????? Guest guest
Hon if you are on treatment a lot of us get a real bad cough from treatment.I almost had to ask my doctor for an ihaler while on treatment and the cough lasted for quite a while after treatment was over.I have been trying to quite smoking for the past year and actually got down to 2 cigs a day until about 3wks ago and I ran out of Zyban.I have been told that if I don't quit it will kill me and I have worked to hard to stay alive to dy from cigarettes.Yes I am addicted to them something terrrible, but I am asking for another script for Zyban and I will quite. Guest guest
O K Danne, the reason the doctor wants you on it is the ammonia which is causing the poor memory, sweet huh? You have to remember to take it. Set an alarm or something. If you want I'll remind you when I take mine, k? Hate the stuff personally - yuck. I find it easier to split it into three or four doses, easier on the body but a little harder on the memory until you get in the habit. SuZiedannegrl <dannegrl2003@...> wrote: Suzie Thanks hun...I think lol. I do need to get started on it. Suzie how bout we help each other remember to take it? My memory is bad. Deb It was for the amonia the reason he wants me on it. love d suzie <suzieandsandy@...> wrote: Danne, Lactulose is an over the counter drug, just ask your pharmasist & he'll get it for you. Make sure you don't take it for two hours before or after any meds you're on otherwise it'll flush the meds out along with anything else.I take one dose in the morning 2 hours after my morning meds, another dose six hours later & the last dose 2 hours after my evening meds. I may have to add another dose after my next blood tests depending on whether the ammonia has gone down. Good luck girl, I hate the stuff & it's effects on my body. SuZiedannegrl <dannegrl2003@...> wrote: Lol.. Oh I forgot my doc was supposed give me a rx for the lactulose but I never got it. But after the doc it was lab xray and pharmacy. Took 4 hrs for all of that. So I was too tired to notice. His nurse will call me w part of the lab info soon. I will have her call it in that day. love dDeb <posttransplant@...> wrote: D so sorry and never mind but on the bright side we heard from . I may be on lactulose sooner than I thought. Love and Hugs.
