Hmm...may be worth a shot. What brand of cloth diapers do you use? Thanks!

I used the Flip.  Any One Size cloth Diaper should work.  The elastic is much stronger and therefore it holds in poop MUCH better.  You will need to set the rise setting on the lowest level to make it sit beneath the cast.  Some other good ones to try would be bumGenius, GroVia, or or FuzziBunz May work too (Not sure).  Just try 1 or 2 and see if they work and then if they do get some more.  That link is to my site, I actually started a Cloth Diaper store after switching my oldest to cloth when we was casted.  If you decide to grab anything from there use code CastKids! to get a 15% discount :) Email me directly if you need help picking stuff either from me or somewhere else.

Hey!!! We started casting Sierra at 12 mo. although I had stopped breast feeding I was so worried about (poop) getting up in the cast....it can really break down the skin and cause all kinds of problems! We use Duct tape all around the bottom of the cast...cut long pieces and poke them as far up In the cast and then wrap around the outside! I did not go down a diaper size either...just pull the diaper up high on the cast area and fasten and the roll down and tuck up into the cast front and back....The best diapers I found are the thin dry max Pampers Cruisers...the tuck easy up in the cast! We never had a skin issue! Sierra just got out of her 9th cast and we been casting since April 2010 and she is now will be 3 yrs. in April. We just got fantastic news....she is now going to a nighttime brace. I know just about all the tricks about casting.....I always kept a shirt on her and used the plastic bibs. They have duct tape in cool colors at Target and Wal-mart..not sure where you live but we live on the Gulf Coast of Alabama..you talk about a freaking Sauna about 9 months out of the year! I always did the “sniff†test every day...if you smell something just not right it could be skin break down that can cause major sores! I just kept Sierra as cool as possible! I even ordered her a cooling vest from at ISOP that has ice packs that go down in it! You are welcome to it....it is very small but should fit your baby! Sierra wore it on hot hot days for a little while! I’m on FB under Kristi Strickland .....there is a pic of me and Sierra on there and I have pic’s of her most recent X-rays! The Mehta casting does work and it is DOABLE!!!! Hang in there...we did it 2 years! I also posted pic’s of Sierra’s X-rays on ISOP this past Wed. It is amazing what Dr. K did and I cannot Thank enough!!!!

My cell is 251-228-0431...if you want to talk...I remember those 1st castings. I was a wreck!

Kristi Mommy to Sierra 34 degree curve...9 cast..now down to 6 out of cast and going to brace! Whoop Whoop!

Subject: Diapering advice...first cast!

My son is 7 months old and got his first cast on Thursday. The first day and night were a little rough for him, but he's quickly adjusting. Hes 48 degrees out of cast and 22 degrees in the first cast My question involves diapering. He's still mostly nursing so his bowel movements are still liquid like. It's day 3 and he's already had an explosion up his back! I cleaned it best I could, pulled the shirt down, dried him, etc. I'd rather be able to avoid this all together! Any tips? We've gone down a size in diapers and are using Huggies snug and dry. In the meantime I'm doing all I can to get him to eat more solid foods! He's just not a fan, yet.
