Guest guest
Eyes are very prone to oxidative stress....Children with autism have a LOT of internal stress. Oxidative stress burns up for example omega 3 fatty acids. The retina is 30% DHA which is an essential fatty acid so I would supplement with DHA for starters...... Also Vitamin A, such as retinol palmitate. I have been researching 'Iodine' lately and I believe it helps to reduce the oxidation of Essential Fatty Acids so I would get some of that also. You can try 'Thyadine' from www.Mandimart.com. Give your daughter also anti-oxidants like zinc, Vitamin C etc. I am glad you are keeping an open mind:-)) majidha schrieb: > > Hi > My 8 year old daughter(NT) was prescribed glasses in August of last > year for short sightedness. > Her vision was -2.25 in both eyes.At todays eye test her vision is now > -3.25 in both eyes. > I spoke at length with the optician as to what I could do to stop her > vision getting worse, but he said there is absolutely nothing-no > supplements etc that would help and that in fact her vision is likely > to get worse, especially as she gets into her teens. > I find it really difficult to accept when professionals say " nothing > can be done " (like most on this list,I know!) > If anyone has any ideas/suggestions for supplements etc to improve,or > at the least stop eyesight deteriation, these would be really appreciated > TIA > Majidha > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------ > > > No virus found in this incoming message. > Checked by AVG - www.avg.com > Version: 8.5.437 / Virus Database: 271.1.1/2889 - Release Date: 05/22/10 06:26:00 > >
Guest guest
There is a book by Dr Bates called Better eyesight without glasses.. he has a lot of interesting information about eye health.. perhaps there is something there. I know that he recommends using pinhole glasses.. a pair of glasses with solid lenses.. except for tiny pinholes .. looking through them forces the muscles in the eyes to work more effectively. I know that if my yeast levels are high or if I have had too much sugar or simple carbs.. my eyes deteriorate short term.. changing diet and watching what I eat makes a rapid difference.. when I am not eating properly my irises in my eyes look dull.. when I eat properly they are very brilliant colours. The other thing that can affect eyesight is liver toxicity... many of the common meds like movacol etc are very toxic to the liver... so perhaps look too at the meds your daughter is taking. The cells in the eye.. like the corneas completely regenerate every 48 hours.. so as soon as you change the cellular health in her eyes.. it is possible for her eyes to improve... many kids now days spend a lot of time looking close up.... and they need to be focussing on things further away for periods of time too. I find it really difficult to accept when professionals say " nothing can be done " (like most on this list,I know!)If anyone has any ideas/suggestions for supplements etc to improve,or at the least stop eyesight deteriation, these would be really appreciated TIAMajidha
Guest guest
Hi Thanks for your advice. My ds is not on the spectrum(my son is though). She does take fish oils and probiotics daily but nothing else ,so I will add in the other supplements you recommended. I was wondering whether triquench could replace the thyadine from Mandi,as I have some of this already? Also you mentioned retinol palmitate-any idea of dosage-again I have biocare's vit a in the cupboard, but not sure how much to dose as the labels fallen off! Guest guest
Hi Tracey I will look into the book you mentioned. I found what you said about yeast and your eyes very interesting as I had gestational diabetes when I was expecting my daughter. She does suffer from bloating after meals.I started her on gse today(she already takes probiotics) She had really bad asthma as a toddler and at her worst was hospitalised about 4 times in 3 months with this (this completely resolved with dietary intervention, but I have slacked on this over the last couple of years,so do need to look more carefully at her diet again) thanks for your advice Majidha > > > > > > > Hi > > My 8 year old daughter(NT) was prescribed glasses in August of last year > > for short sightedness. > > Her vision was -2.25 in both eyes.At todays eye test her vision is now > > -3.25 in both eyes. > > I spoke at length with the optician as to what I could do to stop her > > vision getting worse, but he said there is absolutely nothing-no supplements > > etc that would help and that in fact her vision is likely to get > > worse, especially as she gets into her teens. > > I find it really difficult to accept when professionals say " nothing can be > > done " (like most on this list,I know!) > > If anyone has any ideas/suggestions for supplements etc to improve,or at > > the least stop eyesight deteriation, these would be really appreciated > > TIA > > Majidha > > > > > > >
