Guest guest
Hello all! I just got a telephone call this morning (Shriner's Philly) to schedule 's third cast ... and, again, I'm a bit frustrated. PLEASE correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought that younger kids (we began casting at 16 months) were supposed to change casts every 8 weeks. I know older kids can go a bit longer. However, each cast date we have had thus far, has been almost 10 weeks apart. First cast: 9/8 Second cast: 11/18 Third cast (scheduled): 1/25 I have explained that his cast gets extremely tight toward the last 10 days or so, but I am always told that there is no other casting date available. Also, I am unsure if is getting the full benefit of his " growth potential " because his casts aren't being changed frequently enough. And ... I am figuring that if each cast is a little longer than the next ... it's going to extend this already arduous process months longer in the grand scheme of things. Has anyone else had the experience of having a younger child left in casts for 9-10 weeks regularly? Does anyone know if that with change the effectiveness of treatment? Let me know.
