Cast removal at hOme - you tube demo?

Hi everyone - hope you've all had a lovely Christmas. Found out on 23rd dec

were going ingot cast 7 on 3rd jan & already had holidays planned 4.5 hours. Fro

Our hospital. Hence concurring the tin snip option and DIY. Have going led in

you tube with no succes to find the video of other parent experts. Can anyone

point us in thd right direction? Thanks katrina

We just cut off number 6 a few weeks ago for the 1st time. It is super easy. my husband used tin snips and cut the belly and chest and both straps and then cut the shirt off and she basically walked right out of it. We should have video taped it but didn't. good luck

Hey...my Husband has cut off Sierra’s last 2 cast. We are now on Cast #9. It is super easy and only takes minutes. He uses tin snips also. Like said we just cut the Belly & Chest pieces and cut the t-shirt and it comes right off. It is so much easier than taking Sierra in and the cast Tech.’s using that horrible saw. Plus she gets a little more time cast FREE...We always cut it off the day before the next cast! Good Luck!

Kristi Mommy to Sierra... 12 mo. 34 degrees down to 9 degrees out of cast and –6 degrees in 9th cast. Sierra is now 2 1/2 yrs...may be going to brace in March 2012

Geez – didn’t think of this until now. If

so many of us are taking casts off at home in ways that are quick, quiet, and

WAY less scary, why can’t the hospitals use tin snips instead of the cast saws?

We showed an orthotist in Chicago:) He was very grateful and said he would use

this for kids who are terrified of the saw. Not sure if he's ever followed

through with it... but he was very open to the idea!
