My irregular heartbeat is normal for me but abbynormal for most folks. De heart and hep Do any of you have issues with your heart? If so what types. Guest guest Posted February 1, 2006 Report Share Posted February 1, 2006 Another girl I know has a fast heart rate and the doctor put her on meds to slow it down.I know I am going for a stress test to see about my heart.The appointment was for today but had to be cancelled because it is storming so bad outside,so I go on Feb 8th.They don't know if I have had a small stroke or heart problems or a circulation problem or what.If the stress test turns out ok then they will check the veins in my neck.I have bad circulation in my legs but that is all so far.Hopefully I will know more soon. I started having a racing heart when I was very young, so the Doc's put me on a drug called "atenonol", I take 25 mgs a day, very low dose, and it is also used to lower blood pressure. I have never had any side affects with it. I also was diagnosed with a mitral valve prolaps when I was around 24, they say that when we women are young about 20% of us have it and then get rid of it through our child bearing years. I never got rid of mine, but it is very little and the atenonol kinda helps with that too. The mitral valve can make you feel like your heart is skipping or a hard thump like feeling in your chest. My Doc's always told me to not panic when this happened as it wouldn't hurt me or kill me. And mine always seems to act up when I am under an unusual amount of stress. However, this is also something that I would get check out soon, it could be a side affect from a new medication too?? Just thought I give you a little info - hope you don't mind...
