Not really. The RDA for iodine is 125 mcg. Conversely research shows

that people in Japan who live by the sea and experience very low rated

of breast cancer and hypothyroidism take in 12.5 mg. per day. That is

milligrams vs micrograms. The people in Japan take 100 x the RDA here

and thrive. They also had surprisingly low incidence of thyroid cancer

after the atomic attacks. So you muscle tests could have been

remarkedly accurate.

I should have added that there are a number of doctors who are using

doses of 50 - 100 mg/day of iodine and having excellent results with

fibrocystic breast disease, breast cancer, hypothyroidism, even

I still am leary of muscle testing. My bottle of kelp has 660 mg. of kelp in

each pill which has 400 mcg. of iodine per pill, and 390 mcg. of iron in each

pill. Three bottles of these pills would equal 216 mg. of idodine for one day's

dosage. The iron in 3 bottles would be 210 mg. per day. At the time it scared

me because I felt that her life was in my hands, and if that life expired from

the high dosage of iodine and iron, it would have been my fault, which could

have had the ramefications of a jail sentence, never mind the guilt I would have

experienced and having lost a very good friend. I did do some of the

recommended research that you just mentioned, and granted, the recommended

amount of iodine for keeping cancer away is 12.5 mg. to 45 mg. per day. I still

think that 216 mg. of iodine per day is a little excessive, and if muscle

testing did this with kelp, it would scare me to think that it might do this

with kt. Sorry, once was a believer in muscle testing, but no longer. If it

works for others, that's fine, but I am still too scared to use it as a reliable

Exactly jeanie, the 50Mg dosage is for Lugol's solution which is only 5%

iodine. There is a pill version as well but i forgot what they called it.

Thank-you, Zoe, thank God I listened to my instincts and told my friend not to

take that amount. And even more so that she listened to me and didn't take it!

Just please be careful everyone when looking into these different methods of

finding out " your correct dosage " of kt. Personally, I still think that your

body will tell you on its own, and that everyone has different levels of

detoxification, depending on their status of health, at the time they start

drinking it, and what their health has been in the past as to how much garbage

is needed to be removed from their systems. Personally, we have seen extreme

detoxification from others with extemely health challenged people, whom we have

recommended to start out VERY slowly, whether it was herbs I was recommending or

kt. I have a friend who has M.S. who just started taking kt a month or so ago,

I started her out with only a tablespoon of kt 3 to 4 times per day. I think it

is very dangerous to recommend someone with health challenges to start off with

anything higher, especially if they have had to take prescription drugs for any

length of time because of the detoxification factor. Many of us have much more

toxins in our body than others, depending on our level of health throughout our

mg a day in 8 drops Lugol's for over three weeks now. So far, my

joints quit aching. I am also detoxing a lot of bromine.

Everyones body is different Dorothy. I take 4 drops in the morning and

again 4 drops in the evening. I didn't notice much of anything for about a

month and then only vague symptoms such as breast pain was gone, and a

mild increase in energy levels, but certainly nothing like what I notice

with the KT. Every time I back off the Lugol's the breast pain comes back so

I know for certain that is what is affecting it. We all have different

needs, iodine is needed by every cell in our bodies, not just the thyroid,

but the thyroid will take it up first unless you have fluoride in your water

which will block the absorption of the iodine, so then it moves on to the

other cells without doing its job on the thyroid. If you have a heavy need

for the iodine it will most likely take some time before you notice the

changes.

Actually the information on the internet is kind of confusing, you have some

sites saying that it is in a solution of 5% iodine, and others that say 2 drops

of Lugals equals 1 Idoral tablet which equals 12.5 mgs. of iodine. I am

certainly not saying that we don't need iodine, as I myself take iodine for my

health, the point was that I thought that 216 mg. was WAY too much to take, you

thought that it wasn't that far off the mark for somebody to take. And the MAIN

point I was personally trying to make was to be careful of different methods of

testing for KT, as I had personally found those methods to be unreliable. Not

trying to be contrary, just trying to be helpful. Jeani

Hah! is right, Rodrick! As I find that all of our health problems are directly

related to the immune system, and if your immune system is down or slow, you

will accumulate many toxins through the years! That's what I love about kt is

the fact that it removes those toxins, it's just that many need to take it

slowly, if their immune system has been hampered through the years and has

caused debilitating diseases. HAH! You know a good thing when you know it,

That is correct. That is the daily dose recommended by the doctors

working with iodine. If you take more, what you do not need is

excreted. In a normal person that is about 90% of what you ingest. In

an iodine deficient person, as little as 10 or 20% may be excreted as

the body grabs what it needs.

Sorry hon, read your labels, Lugol's is NOT 100% iodine. In 50mg of

Lugol's at the original strength you are only getting 2.5 mg of iodine and

if you have todays strength it is only 2% iodine so would be about half

of that dosage. 85% of the original Lugol's formula is nothing but purified

water. 5% iodine and 10 % potassium iodide. With the new formula you

are getting a higher percentage of plain water.

Hi Dorothy, boy this is sure interesting! Reading from the information on the

sites you gave to look up, the doctors recommend that you take 12.5 mg. to 50

mg. of Lugals solution. It also says that they don't recommend that you take

doses higher than that, and many of the sites I looked up along with the sites

you gave us also say that these dosage amounts are very helpful for many people,

but taking too much iodine can cause a metallic taste, mouth sores, swollen

salivary glands, diahrhea,vomiting, headaches (I can attest to that-Adelle

says the way to tell if you are taking too much iodine is that you will get a

sharp headache towards the temple area, which is very different from any other

kind of headache, I can tell you, as I have had it several times.) It also says

that you can develop a rash, and difficulty breathing. And we're not even

talking about the toxicity in the 210 mgs. of iron that would be in the three

bottles of kelp if my friend were to have taken that many kelp after muscle

testing for that amount. Iron toxicity can lead to debilitating and life

threatening problems such as diabetes, heart failure, enlarged liver, skin

pigmentation, joint diseases and impotence. I definitely would not wish this on

ANYONE let alone a good friend of mine. Once again, kt drinkers, I am leary of

muscle testing and the like, as I have found them to be very unreliable. Take

your Lugal's solution with confidence, Dorothy, it works wonders for those who

need it, and I would never debate that, that's for sure!!! Thanks for the

One last thing, if I may be permitted to say so, and then I am done, as we have

already taken our discussion offline. Thank-you Bev for clarifying for us. I

learned SO much from this discussion, and all I was concerned about was the

thought that perhaps muscle testing for kt was too unreliable, (thinking that if

kelp muscle tested for 3 bottles of kelp at 216 mg. of iodine and 219 mg. of

iron for my friend, what would it possibly do for someone with kt-10 gallons per

day? Just throwing that figure out there.) I think it is much wiser to go with

what your body is telling you, and to go EXTREMELY slowly with kt if you have

many health challenges to start with. But once again, it is up to everybody

what they think they should do, I just know that it scared me off of muscle
