Guest guest
Ann, I hope you get a more qualified answer than mine. But kt is a detox so many say no to pregnant or nursing moms, and depending age of child slow to 1 or 2 oz. I have heard if you consumed kt before you got pregnant you can drink it through the pregnantcy but I don't remember what they said about the nursing at that point. Hope that helps. Thanks for your help, Ann

KT should not be introduced until baby has started mixed feeding (in our case at about year old.) As long as the nursing Mum drinks plenty of water there is no reason why she should not try in small quantities some Kombucha. Kombucha is diuretic, and therefore needs to be supplemented with water, especially when breastfeeding. There is no reason to be afraid of Kombucha. It is not a drug, but a wonderful superfood with many benefits, which may be different from one person to the next. Guest guest
Hi and EveryOne, IMHO it would not be a good time to introduce your friend to KT for the first time while she is nursing....sometimes when people first start to drink KT toxins including heave metals, old drugs, etc. can be released from the body....while this is a good thing most of the time it would not be desirable during pregnancy or nursing. Guest guest
Dear Bev and , Thank you for the drinking kombucha while nursing advice for my friend. I guess I'll have to have her hold off for a year or two... I certainly wouldn't want to make her precious baby sick in any way. I appreciate that you shared your wisdom. Guest guest
Hi Margaret, Oh, I would never advise giving anything directly to a newborn, except mothers milk. But, thank you for your caution. Thank you, also, for sharing your experiences with your children and your personal drinking of Kombucha. It sounds like you had positive experiences. I'll relay the info to my friend. Guest guest
It contains some alcohol. Hi Everyone, My friend is coming on Monday and she is nursing a newborn. Is Kombucha safe for a new mom and her nursing baby? Thanks for your help, Ann
Guest guest
My understanding however is that KT does not contain any more alcohol than fruit juice. Guest guest
I would be careful of the mother's die off - i know i had a huge die off that lasted 3 months - and i am not sure that is good for a nursing mother - maybe in small doses it will be ok and not cause the die off that i had - i was chugging the Kombucha and coconut kefir lisa c > > It contains some alcohol. > > > > Hi Everyone, > My friend is coming on Monday and she is nursing a newborn. > Is Kombucha safe for a new mom and her nursing baby? > Thanks for your help, > Ann > >
