Guest guest
. our doctor/surgeon also is Mehta trained, and a highly regarded specialist in early-onset scoliosis --- he's involved in the latest research into treatment -- and he doesn't necessarily advocate the earliest intervention with casting, either. In his case, he says it's because there is some emerging research that says lung capacity and chest-wall capacity can potentially be negatively impacted by the earliest castings . . . .. so he prefers not to cast before about 45/50, and he has waited a few weeks to cast in my son's case. . . .but I totally don't know enough yet to pass a judgment on whether he's on the cutting edge -- or he's just plain wrong. We're agonizing over it.
