Guest guest
Just wondering if anyone knows what to do, if anything, for a stinky cast? My son is just 2 mos shy of being in his first cast and to me it seems like its starting to smell but not all the time which is weird! Thanks and I appreciate any suggestions! Guest guest
HEY MELISSA! IS THE SMELL TOWARDS THE BOTTOM OR TOP? HOW OLD IS YOUR SON? JUST WONDERING IF HE HAS THE T-SHIRT UNDER IT? SIERRA IS IN HER 6TH CAST & WE HAVE NEVER HAD ANY SMELL AT ALL UNTILL MY HUSBAND SHOWED HER HOW TO TURN HER CEREAL BOWL UP AND DRINK THE LEFT OVER MILK...LOL! NOW AROUND THE TOP IT WAS KINDA SOUR SMELLING. I USED SOME ANTI BACTERIAL WIPES AND JUST KEEP RUBBING AROUND THAT AREA. IT IS NEARLY GONE NOW! SIERRA IS STILL IN DIAPERS. SHE JUST TURNED 2 YRS. LAST WEEK. I AM A SUPER FREAK ABOUT MAKING SURE NO POOP OR TEE TEE GETS UP IN THERE. I HAVE HEARD HORROR STORIES ABOUT IT BREAKING DOWN THERE SKIN. WHAT DOES IT SMELL LIKE? THAT T-SHIRT REALLY REALLY HAS HELPED. SIERRA’S SKIN ALWAYS LOOKS GREAT AFTER THE CAST COMES OFF. SHE WAS IN LAST ONE FOR 12 WEEKS. WE LIVE ON THE GULF COAST OF ALABAMA & THE HEAT & HUMIDITY CAN GET VERY STEAMY DOWN HERE! MY MOM SAYS TRY BABY POWDER, BUT HAVE NOT TRIED THAT! KRISTI MOMMY TO SIERRA 24 MO. 34 DEGREES DOWN TO 8 DEGREES IN CAST! CASTED BY DR. K IN B’HAM ALABAMA. NEXT CAST JUNE 9TH 2011. Guest guest
Not too much experience here with casts, but when my son had his, I used to get the hair blower (always making sure is was set for cold air) and blow into his cast through every little gap I found to dry the sweat. It helped with the smell and the itching too. -Laimi From: melissa.borruso <melissa.borruso@...>Subject: Castinfantile scoliosis treatment Date: Wednesday, May 4, 2011, 3:05 PM Just wondering if anyone knows what to do, if anything, for a stinky cast?
