Hi guys,

just wondering if anyone had wechsler preschool and primary scale of

intelligence (llluk) test sheets,or book or any knowlegde of the questions asked

on the test. We are on a battle with the education, to cut the story short, our

son ( aged 11 ) has done 3 years in a sn primary school,we have pushed for

testing as proof that the school has not taught our son anything, they have done

the mentioned test and the results are our son has actually regressed at great

significance. There answer for this ,is because our son ,must have a medical

condition and not there lack of teaching. We are now pushing tentatively for

support for homeschooling, which in there eyes is a diffinate no. We have agreed

for me to do the test at home with the ed div in another room, my point to this

is to prove my son can score higher on the test and therefore is entitled to a

suitable education.

We will also be doing the wechsler individual achievement test if anyone has any

info on that I would be very very greatful.

Sorry for the long one

love to you all

I used WISC and WISC-R years ago and know the questions of those but also should

have some info about WPPSI which is the one your son had. I will look for it in

my files. When do you need it? I will email you directly when I find it.

Hi Lynne,

I believe a period of 6 months must have lapsed before repeating these tests and

can be invalidated if not. I was told this by an Educational Psychologist.

We had the brain scan done a while back, good 3-4 yrs, anyway he was very lightly sedated, just enough to make him sleepy and eventually fall asleep, the brain scan revealed nothing.

As for testing, most of these tests are not designed for our kids and don't really show potential, we had the full Isometric testing done at CAMHS and they showed my son to be considerably lower functioning than the LEA EP tests, in his case they were cherry picking tests that show the child more capable in order to prove mainstream suitability, so I was pleased to get a truer picture, however even these tests cannot show potential, just where he is at now.

Hi June,

I understand what you mean, but I am trying to prove a point with these people that there are ways of doing things to get a better result, not just there rigid way of one size fits all.

And most of all that my son is capable of learning and should get the education he deserves. These people ( LEA ) are trying to cover there backs, that my son cannot learn and that it must be neurological,

and not there crap way of " we do it this way for everyone.!!!

We saw the paed last Friday for almost 3 hours, she recommends a brain scan, and a eeg scan, bit concerned with the anaesthetic, anyone any ideas, can we do the scan without sedation?

I have recently been told the same thing. However, I think you can use different

tests and then the 6 month rule doesn't apply. The rule is binding (I

think)under the code of professional conduct for EPs.

Yes Margaret, you are right about using different tests during the 6-month rule.

It is also possible to show that your child's non-verbal IQ is higher than

verbal IQ in Performance IQ Subtests. A higher score on this test can show that

a child is capable of functioning within at least the average level of ability,

even with lost of motivation.(The Verbal IQ and Performance IQ Subtests are

combined with the Coding Subtest to provide full scale IQ).
