Guest guest
Hi Jen had a cough with the first cast. We had to remove the cast early. The second cast he also had a cough. They did cast him and it was ok. I would call and ask what their thoughts are. However, he woke up this morning with a deep cough. It is occasional (3 times/hour), and it seems to be his only symptom. He has no fever, runny nose, etc. The cough does, however, sound rather " wet. " Have any of your kids had a cold when they were casted? Did they go ahead and do the procedure? Let me know!Jen
Guest guest
Hi Jen, I would call your care coordinator and let them know. Anasthesia and intubation can really take a toll on a little one, and I know it's best for them to be healthy on cast day. Hope everything goes well with 's first cast! Guest guest
Hi Jen, I’d definitely let Suzanne (or the anesthesiologist) know. Depending on how it is, they may or may not go ahead with the casting. This was always the case with Eden especially over the winter. A slight cough…I never was sure if it was ok or too bad, or going to get worse or better! She was never sick enough to delay casting. They gave her something to “dry her up”. Good luck on Thursday! We’re going down tomorrow for Eden’s first brace check up, and I pray she doesn’t need another cast. If she does, and there’s room in the schedule, we might see you on Thursday. But I hope not!! Guest guest
Jen,I can't help with the cough issue (yet) but I just wanted to ask you if you had a time for 's casting? Shane is also due to get casted (cast #4) on Thursday by Dr. C. I am actually going today (leaving in a couple of hours) to have this cast (#3) taken off. Maybe we'll see each other on the 7th floor in the waiting area? Good luck with the cough. I hope it doesn't interfere with starting treatment.SuzySent from my iPhoneOn Sep 5, 2011, at 9:12 AM, " Heath" <jaheath86@...> wrote: Hello everyone! Guest guest
Jen, Not sure what time you're is getting casted. But I got the call today that Shane is being pushed back and it now the 3rd child in line (was the 2nd). Where does fall in? I have to be at Philly by 10am. Shane is scheduled for a before cast x-ray. Then he's scheduled to go in the O.R. at noon (but could be sooner if Dr. C. has no bumps in the road). Then back to a post-cast x-ray. Maybe I see you there. I usually go to the 7th floor and hang out in the waiting room. I'll be there with my soon-to-be 3 year old daughter (who will be in a tandem double stroller). I hope to meet you.
