You never know what something means til you lose it. About 8 years ago I got robbed & beaten up at work by a 20 year old stoned kid with the leg off a coffee table. My hand & nose were both broken. The docs set em & they're good as new except for the fact that my sense of smell is gone. Partially gone - I can't smell much but every so often someones perfume will make me gag & I can smell raspberries while I'm picking them. You have no idea how much your sense

of smell means to your taste. Lots of things just don't have any at all without the nose. There are some things I'm grateful for. I can no longer smell the litter box. Someone could puke on my shoe & I wouldn't notice it (except for the sudden warmth & wetness) These are GOOD things. I no longer wear perfume cause I don't know how it smells - I used to mix my own perfume out of essential oils. That's life - nothing bad without good. You get back what you put out. By the way, the kid who assaulted me got 3 years in jail & was out the next summer when he stabbed a guy to death at a party. He's now doing 15 years for manslaughter & I'm just glad I'm still here. I am pretty much opposite. Most smells I smell more refined and stronger. If I smell something then 8 out of 10 times the smell gives me a real bad headache. I had pretty much decided it was in my head til a few months ago I read about it. cant recall what its called but I was not crazy..... ok At least about this.lol. Suzie you talked about the guy that beat and robbed you. My cousin was shot in the throat and died. The court ruled it to be an accident even knowing the gun went off less than 1 inch from his throat (based on coroners findings with the powder burns and his report in court). The judge said the guy was not a threat to society. He was given Probation for killing an 18 yr old.. Less than 3years later he was in prision for armed robbery. Glad he was no threat!! d suzie <suzieandsandy@...> wrote: You never know what something means til you lose it. The laws are crazy and unfair. These people should be checked emotionally to see if they are going to be harmful anymore before they even think about giving them any sentence.Suzie that was no accident what happened to you and the guy should have gotten more time.D the guy that killed your family member definately should have gotten along time.Even if it is an accident they are put in jail for at least 5 years. No wonder there is so much violence now. They get away with it the first time.

They told me that I could make a "Victim Impact Statement" before he was sentenced. Well, he pleaded guilty & I found out his sentence from the newspaper! I was pissed so I wrote a letter to the local newspaper & called the radio stations. The story made the first page of the paper, my letter made page 3. The Crown Attorney called to apologise & he asked me to submit the "V I S " to his office. Things turned out o k I guess, I would have liked a longer sentence but

he would've spent the same ammount of time anyways.
