Bummed out

Hi everyone,

had her 1 year out of brace x-ray today and Dr. N. her in San Diego measured her at 22 degrees, compared to the 10 degrees he measured her at last August. I compared the x-rays myself and just visually there is a substantial difference. He didn't have an RVAD measurement and we are sending the x-ray to Dr. D in SLC like we always do. So we will wait for his feedback. I realize it could be a lot worse, but we just had so much hope she would continue to improve. Feeling really bummed out and trying to be strong, but just want to fall apart at moments. To top things off, they are still not trained in Mehta casting here in SD. They did just get a 3D x-ray machine though, but they did not view her x-ray in 3D. Don't know why and didn't feel like asking. We would rather wait for Dr. D and travel to SLC.

For those of you who don't know, was first casted in Erie, PA at 15 months old with a 60 degree curve and 28 RVAD. We then transferred to SLC and after 8 casts and 4 braces she was down to 10 degrees. We are so confused because she looks so good to us. She still has a hump, but that never went away, even at 10 degrees.

Hope all is well with you and yours. Thank goodness for this site, you are the only ones who truly understand.

Thanks for listening.

I am so sorry it was not the news you were hoping for. I can so relate. I know how you are feeling right now. I wish I had the right words to say to make it all better. But unfortunately it is just something we all have to deal with in our own way. And letting it all fall apart is the best thing for me sometimes.......of course not where can see.

We go on Wednesday for his check-up/xray after taking him completely out of the brace back in May.

Anyway just wanted you to know I am thinking about you. Keep me posted on what the doctor says.

Hi ,

Sorry, to hear that has regressed a bit. I know you are very

worried and am glad that you have continued your relationship with SLC.

Im sure you'll hear back from them soon. 22 is still pretty low compared

to 60, so please try not to worry too much. (easier said than done, I

know). SLC will know what the best course of action will be, so please

keep us posted.
