He was only casted b/c he was so high on his curve and continuously getting pneumonia. He's holding under 20 currently.aFrom: lucyrichmondsmom <lucyrichmondsmom@...>infantile scoliosis treatment Sent: Monday, August 15, 2011 7:58 PMSubject: Anyone encountered this? Hi! I am Lucy's mom. Lucy is 7 months old today and completely adorable. We just went for our checkup x-rays today. A little background: we noticed her curve at 7 weeks. Her Cobb angle measured 39 degrees at 3 months old and 22 degrees at 4-1/2 months old. Her RVAD was always measured at almost 0. Today, at 7 months old, she is still at 22 degrees. She seems so much better because we have been doing PT, so we were disappointed to see her curve had stalled out. Her doc still thinks she is the self-resolving infantile scoliosis, but now I am worried again. We took her to a Mehta trained doc (dr.s in Cincinnati) and he thought she was self- resolving, too) Anyone experienced this?
Guest guest
yes this happened to my daughter at first. But they basically have to wait and watch cause my daughters would get better then get bad again so just keep praying and hopefully she wont be like my daughter cause she started with a single curve now is a double curve and has rotation. So now she is in a cast but dr. doesnt know if it will work because double curves can be hard to manage.Just stay on top of it and if you are still concerned you can try bracing like we did since she was 5 months till recently. She wass in the brace 23 and one and the one was for bathing, but its a huge commintment and can be difficult to do diaper changes especially as they get older and dont want to sit still it took two of us to change her diaper so i had to become a stay at home mom and srtuggle sometimes but it well worth it. Good louck and best wishes! > > Hi! I am Lucy's mom. Lucy is 7 months old today and completely adorable. > > We just went for our checkup x-rays today. Guest guest
We go back in 5 months at her first birthday. He said bring her back if we see anything change before then. I plan to start taking weekly pictures of her back to make sure nothing gets worse in the mean time. Nervous!Sent from my iPadOn Aug 16, 2011, at 10:29 AM, heather@... wrote: I know others have experienced this as well....I know that you will be watching her back like a hawk and am releived to hear that you are going to CCMH. If she doesnt self resolve she is in great hands and the doc there will also be keeping a close eye on her. Try not to worry...easier said than done I know. When do you go back for an eval? HRH > Hi!
