Guest guest
Thanks Gail! Livs cousins are visiting now and I just got bikes ready for them, so hopefully they can inspire her to ride. Snowboarding is next, ha!HRH From: infantile scoliosis treatment [mailto:infantile scoliosis treatment ] On Behalf Of GailSent: Monday, June 20, 2011 1:25 PMinfantile scoliosis treatment Subject: Liv (was: is home!) That is FANTASTIC news!! I am so happy for her! Now she has no excuses on not learning to ride that bike - that should be a piece of cake compared to snowboarding! You ladies are an inspiration to all of us! Rock on and Liv! Luv ya!GailFrom: Hyatt <heather@...>Subject: RE: is home!infantile scoliosis treatment Date: Monday, June 13, 2011, 10:53 AM Excellent news Gail! Its also great news that the doc feels she will benefit from the VEPTR 2 replacement. That means her spine is still growing and has not prematurely fused. As does happen with so many distraction procedures. Way to grow !! We arrived home around 2. had set up the couch for with pillows and blankets. Made sure she was comfortable and ever since has proceeded to bug the crap out of her! Ahhh siblings! She even looks better since we got home. Her back isn't really bothering her and I am still getting over the fact that there is just one 2 x 4 " bandage on her back and not a huge bandage covered with Tegaderm. But, he did only lengthen the longer of the 2 rods. The shorter could not be lengthened any more, so he only had to make one incision. Her surgeon said her next surgery would probably be in about 9 months and would involve replacing her current VEPTR rods with the VEPTR II. (9 months would be March - Wonder if I could get that scheduled for Spring Break? Although we may have to wait depending on when her dance recital is next year and go with the beginning of summer vacation again.) She's eating, drinking and moving around well. We are both exhausted because: hospital plus nighttime does not necessarily equal SLEEP! Stupid beeping, buzzing, whining machines! Other than that, all is good! Guest guest
I just picked up some pics that took of riding a horse 7 days after her surgery! This whole week she has been at Girl Scout camp and last night I changed her bandage and checked her incision. It looks great! The steri strips are still attached but that is ok. Amazing girls we have! Gail From: Hyatt <heather@...>Subject: RE: is home!infantile scoliosis treatment Date: Monday, June 13, 2011, 10:53 AM Excellent news Gail!
