Guest guest
I am new here and was reading what said about needing to drink lots of water to flush out toxins Through your kidneys instead of your skin. What Kind reactions might one expect through the skin? Rashes, boils? I thought I was drinking enough water and experienced a bad rash below my belt down my backside, with a lot of itching. Probably more than you wanted to know. :-) I thought it might be some type of detox happening, but wasn't sure. I Put a half gallon of water on the table and have been drinking that everyday now along with my KT The rash went away and now I feel great. _____ From: kombucha tea [mailto:kombucha tea ] On Behalf Of Beckman Sent: Friday, March 07, 2008 3:47 PM kombucha tea Subject: Re: Is KT dangerous > You need to drink lots of water with your KT when you first start. > Then the water will flush out the toxins through your kidneys instead > of your skin. Guest guest
Yes, with detox people all respond a litle differently. Some get itchy, some get rashy, some get other things too. Maybe others on the group can tell you their personal experiences. I have had some red bumps on my legs for a little while now. I am not suprised since I was on prescription meds from age 6 - 10 and then again from 14 until the current date. I can't wait until I can stop taking them all together. Both are meds known to cause liver damage and I believe my body is trying to get rid of the toxins that my liver could no longer handle. Your liver is the first organ in charge of detox, the skin is second. It makes sense that your skin would react to toxins leaving. A friend of mine experience terrible itching all over her body for about a day and a half and then it was gone. We all react differently. I hope you have experienced relief from your itching! Guest guest
Hi and Everyone, Detoxing is tricky. A good half gallon of water needs to be consumed if drinking KT regularly. But if doing this your sweating is increased then you might need to get rid of a few toxins through your skin. Some kinds of toxins will just do more damage if they go through your gastro-intestinal tract. Putting up with rashes, skin irregularities and reddening might be what you need to do if you are drinking adequate water. You might want to try baths. Three I can think of right off hand are salt/soda baths, 1/2 c. vodka/juice of 1/2 lemon or two cups of apple cider vinegar. I think 2 cups of KT would be better but I don't always have it. Detoxing reactions will pass but if you get too sick you might want to try your doctor and get some help there. They don't often understand detox but they do understand skin conditions. I don't recommend getting to the point that you can't stand the occasional detox reaction. Just my thoughts. I'm not an expert. Just sharing what I've done and know it helped me. Guest guest
It is defintely wise to practice a healthy skepticism toward some claims of alternative medicine.. Flushing toxins out could be one of them and indeed it could be quite diffcult to provide a " scientific " explanation for it.. I for one does not have one ; Certain compounds could help the body get rid of things that are, to put in layman terms, " not good for it " .. The best way to call these, thus would be toxins... In the words of Shakespeare: " There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy. " Our science does explain several, unfortunately, not all things, not yet anyway... Guest guest
another good bath is a fistsized amount of dried oats, put in a sock or pantyhose and hung under teh tap as the bath is running. Add a few spoons of dried milk or a cup or so of milk and you have a lovely soothing and softening bath. Caitilin PS, good for itchy rashy things too. Guest guest
Hello Ted and Lise?? The amount of water one ought to drink when detoxing or not is not a set value. You will hear 'this' from one source and 'that' from another. That said, it is very important to stay hydrated at any time. Some beverages hydrate more than others...some may even dehydrate a body. When detoxing it is particularly important to be well hydrated so that toxins may be flushed out of the body through the urine and the skin. How much? Enough so that your urine is light in color rather than dark is my opinion. Some sources will say an ounce a day per every two pounds of body weight as a general formula, according to my chiropractor who holds an advanced nutrition degree.. I just bet you will get some other opinions on the matter, soon. Read what is offered...and follow whatever feels right to your body. Guest guest
Hi Everyone, We are constantly bombarded with dirty air, water and food. Much of the processed food we eat have unpronounceable ingredients that may or ....well I think it is harmful. We used to be fairly simple creatures and now we are so full things that are not good for us babies are born will many unnatural chemicals and heavy metals. KT is detoxifying. It works the same whether you " believe " you are toxic or not. If you are on this earth you are surly toxic. The above ground testing of nuclear weapons made sure of that. All those pesticides, growth hormones, industrial wastes....yada....yada....yada.
