Guest guest
Do monitor his calcium levels. If you're chelating they could be affected. The auditory system works by exchange of calcium ions, and there's evidence that hyperacusis can be caused by sub-clinical hypothyroidism - presumably via lowered calcium levels. But these are complex systems that are easily unbalanced, so ideally his Ca levels and thyroid function should be regularly checked. Guest guest
Hi Goran My son gets extremely sensitive to sounds (with ear holding and running from the sound of my food processor and vacuum) when he is overgrown with yeast. If you are chelating this may be the issue with your son. Yeast helps the body chelate heavy metals and will rise during chelation. You may want to consider a yeast protocol or diet while on the next break from DMSA. Sharon S. Guest guest
That's why it's important to monitor the level. Calcium levels that are too high or too low might affect hearing. Guest guest
And whether or not calcium levels are high or low, it may not be doing what it's meant to be doing, and causing harm instead. If your child reacted badly to calcium, please see the vit K files on the vit k forum. Sara Sue wrote: > > That's why it's important to monitor the level. Guest guest
This may not be relevant but I am reading the book "hearing equals understanding" at the moment by Guy Berard (preface by Rimland) It is extremely interesting He has had something like 2100 patients in his time (mainly autism condition). He concludes that very many think they have normal hearing, but in fact they have gaps where certain frequencies do not register and also sometimes some frequencies cause intense pain So in many of his case, sound sensitivity was casued by pain. So he devised Auditory Integration therapy which he claims works in 93% of cases first time, and a further 4.7% second time We are doig listneing programme but im not sure how similar this is yet (am only only 1/4 through the book) Autism Treatment From: jane_hogan@...Date: Sun, 28 Feb 2010 10:33:09 +0000Subject: Re: Extremely sensitive to sounds !! - Any advice !!! dmsa definitely caused extreme sound sensitivity with my son. Guest guest
Hi is is <alexis.atrekkie22@... wrote:If thats the case then why is it recommended to STOP chelation during a yeast overgrowth? Because it will compound and escalate the problem, making more difficult for the body to handle. Some people report a rise in yeast while using DMSA especially, but this is not true for everyone. Even the bad things that take up residence in our bodies can have specific functions. The following excerpt is taken from Desorgher's book "The Power of Exile" "Fungi, yeast, bacteria and some viruses contribute to themetabolic activity in the gastrointestinal tract which include similar benefits as those observedfrom some ‘friendly flora’. Fungi produce phytoene (pigment-free carotenoids), candidaalbicans can produce the pigment lycopene and also is said to bind and remove heavy metaltoxins, e-coli can result in thicker areas of repaired intestinal lining, streptococcus can breakdown casein and other proteins and so on."
