I've just been looking into MCP myself. The sole distributor of Pectasol here is Nutrition Geeks at a hefty 80 quid for 180 caps. Mandi had some MCP I remember but I couldn't find it on her site when looking just now. Mandi? I know I was supposed to order some but forgot about it in the panic of last year (well last 5 years:-))I agree that it should absolutely be organic in light of all the pesticides they spray on the citrus. As regards the size of the molecule, that has escaped me til you mentioned it. If you can find something for us, that's be great.I was at a funeral yesterday and was introduced to a very charming 88 year old vet. Within 5 minutes, we had gotten into a conversation about lead poisoning and he grabbed me by the shoulder and said 'Oh my God,

I am soooo interested in lead poisoning. A lot of of the farm animals succombed to it...Tell me everything you have found out about it!'.. So we're going to meet up and talk 'lead'. (The rest of the funeral was really sad:-(()Anyway.....I am glad you are looking into this. We absolutely have to get on top of this 'lead'. I have to re-check my notes but the high ammonia may also be produced by a metabolic pathway that is blocked by heavy metals. In the old days here, I think people ate more marmalade, didn't they? (marmalade on toast, marmalade and kippers, wasn't it?) People were probably detoxing without realizing it. And what do a lot of people eat nowadays....cereals......The only thing that might stand in the way of the MCP being useful is the phenol content but let's try and see if we can make this work...Otherwise I've found some other combos which will

I am looking into buying the MCP for my kids who have a lot of lead and my mum who just had her breast cancer removed. As you know, the size of the MCP molecule is important when considering whether on not the body will absorb it or as fibre.

One was used in research, by a Dr. Isaac Eliaz, called PectaSol made by EcoNugenics

http://www.econugen ics.com/products /product_ detail.php? s=6001A

another producer that makes a product also called PectaSol:

http://www.sourcena turals.com/ products/ GP1218/

I've read that Dr. Eliaz, who did the first one, patented the use of the MCP which makes me wonder if the name (PectaSol) is also patented so the products are the same. I emailed Source Naturals to ask if they control the size of the MCP molecule and if so how big it is; econugenics molecule size is between 10 and 20 thousand daltons. Source naturals is s bit cheaper and easier to get in the UK than Eco Nugenics

My concern is that neither mention if the MCP is made from organic fruit. Non-organic citruses have a lot of nasty stuff on their skin and the stuff they use for the production of MCP is just under the skin. Or should I not be concerned about it because the pectin will not dump it to the body?

The only organic MCP I have found is the one by Allergy Research

http://www.revital. co.uk/Allergy_ Research_ Modified_ Citrus_Pectin_ Capsules

and the size of the molecule is quite big- 30kD, "Dr. Isaac Eliaz found that pectin with a molecular weight between 10,000 and 20,000 daltons can be absorbed and circulated throughout the body without being quickly broken down and eliminated." so his MCP molecule is considerably smaller.

I think I will try to email Dr. Eliaz and ask what fruit they use and if he has any concerns about using non organic fruit.
