Guest guest
Sara how do you get time foe everything? Does Tom has support with SALT and OT? Do you have any help like a TA? Probably I am dreaming here but I just can see how I can do it and at the same time keep my mental health but above all give the care to my son that he needs as much as would like to think that I am very capable I am not sure that I am what he needs. Guest guest
Hi , Here in Swansea the ed psych suggested after school clubs as a way for Tom to mix with school kids. That would be every day. I might take her up on it one day but I don't think he's ready for it yet. We are having lovely play dates with another boy who has ASD. Guest guest
Hi I guess the outcome you need is for your son to be happy and for him to thrive in an environment that supports him and one in which you have enough support and time out to keep you healthy and happy.. Since OT is recognising that home school may be best, perhaps you need to think about what you need to make it work. Perhaps you need to think about how much respite time you need during the week to hold it all together, What additional resources you would have to buy in for him.. such as computer, learning aids etc.. since these costs would be normally met by the school so you may has well have this money too, and perhaps support with him attending clubs etc.. The council will look for the least cost option. so if a school out of county is the route, they would have to pay at least £30 000 for the school place and more for the taxi. So if you requirements are modest in comparison... then I guess they would jump at the idea..
