Hello all. I'm brand new here, just joined a week ago or so. I've been reading

through some posts and some files and figured I'd say " Hi " now.

I'm Jen and my daughter, is 6 months old. She's our second child - the

first one's back is fine thank God. But has just been diagnosised with

severe infantile scoliosis.

We noticed from birth that her head always tilted a certain way, and she has a

tendancy to curve sideways when laying on her back. Now that she's been sitting

up for a month or so, it's very obvious how she bends over sideways. She's

crawling like a champ, thankfully it's not gotten in the way of that.

My husband and I, along with our 4 year old son have always gone to a

chiropractor. I finally had her look at, and adjust about 2 weeks ago.

She knew right off that something was wrong and ordered a x-ray. If I can

figure out how to post it, I'll share it with all of you. I cried when I first

saw it. I expected that she had a slight curve (I have double scoliosis, but

never had to wear a brace or have surgery.) But the curve is much worse than

I'd expected.

We saw her pediatrician this past Thursday and he referred us over to the

Children's Hospital of Phoenix (where we live.) Now, we're just waiting to hear

from the hospital about making an appointment for .

I've been reading a lot about this Mehta casting and it sounds fascinating ....

and very hopeful. But it seems to me that only a small amount of doctors

actually do it. Do you have to get referred to a doctor that does it? How do

you go about getting into a casting program / hospital? I'm very curious and

unsure about all of this.

I've been going from devistated to being in denial, to wanting to hurry up and

DO something about her back, to just sitting and crying for my child and what's

in store for her.

Are there any members in the Phoenix area?

Thank you all for reading my rant. I really appreciate it.

~Jen
