Guest guest
Thinking about you Jenn. As you know this has been a long road for so I know all too well what you are going through right now. I hope and pray for great news for Cole! Keep us posted. TashaMommy of 5 year old twin boys- and Fort Worth, Texas is treated at Texas ish Rite Hospital in Dallas, Texas. After being treated in a series of 6 casts for 14 months he is now in a brace and has been since September 2007. EARLY Treatment does work if done properly. You can read 's story at.... http://www.infantilescoliosis.org/stories.html Or follow our family one day at a time......http://thefontenotslife.blogspot.com/ From: genericallyloud <jennifer.leggett@...>infantile scoliosis treatment Sent: Mon, April 11, 2011 12:25:17 PMSubject: Rochester 18, 19, 20th We are going to Rochester to see Dr. S and (our orthotics guy) on the 18th, 19th and 20th of this month. Are any other families going to be out there any want to get together. We will get there probably late afternoon on the 18th. On the 19th we see at 9am to get a new brace molded and Dr. S at 10:45 to see how our back is holding. Then we will be around the rest of the day on the 19th and most of the day on the 20th while we wait for our new brace. I am very anxious. I have felt like being sick for almost a week now. Cole has been in a brace for 1 year now! We moved into brace at 5 degrees laying down and 11 standing (both out of cast). At our 6 month follow up our numbers were a mix. 0 laying down(!!!) and 18 standing. Cole is terrified of the x-rays and it was a HUGE struggle to get them done. Based on a physical exam our doctor concluded they were likely not accurate since he looked very very straight and he felt that the 18 was not correct. Based on this we continued to brace. Now, 6 months later, Cole's back still looks amazing, but I am nervous the 18 was accurate and that we will still be there or ever worse and will be looking at another cast. If that needs to happen, it will be fine. Cast life for our family has always been pretty easy. It will however, be a blow to the fact that we were cured and that we may have a longer road ahead of us than I would like. Anyways let us know if you want to meet up! Guest guest
Thank you everyone for all of your positive thoughts! Looking at him, my gut is that we will start to wean him. I honestly think my comfort zone is 6 hours a day out of brace. I think he would love it, and I would feel that he gets the benefits of the support of a brace and the ability of strengthening his core muscles associated with time out of the brace. Cole is VERY excited about getting a new brace. I am going to try to get a video of them molding the brace so I can share it with everyone so you can see how it is done. I know I wish I had one to show him. Jenn Mommy to Cole > > We are going to Rochester to see Dr. S and (our orthotics guy) on the 18th, 19th and 20th of this month.
