The doctor put me on 50,000units of vitamin D once a wk and calcium every day.There is another treatment that will build up your bones but is very liver unfriendly so I have to stay with trying to maintain what bones I have left.

Just follow the package dierctions. I've got glucosamine & chondroitin - 599/400 - it says 2 or 3 daily, I take 2. You can find it in most pharmacies & health food stores & it's pretty cheap. Try it for a month, it sometimes takes a few weeks to work kinda like anti d's.

Sometimes I feel like I traded on evil for another - after clearing Hep, 9 months later I was diagnosed with Rhuematiod Athritis. They Rhumatoligist told me that I could have activated my RA because my body faught so hard to fight off the hep and then the immune system doesn't stop fighting and eventually turn on our own bodies. First attacking our joints then if left untreated, attacking our major organs. He wants me to treat with Methotrexate - which he says is a for of chemotherapy, kind of like tx , simular side affects - I just can't bring myself to do it yet. Maybe someday.

Is anyone else here with RA treating?

, your doc is nuts.

Methotrexate is highly toxic to the liver and can cause cirrhosis even in a healthy liver.

I'm in the same quandrey and have not been thru trmt.

They want me to make a choice as to what I want to be treated for.

Your doc should read about the sides in the PDR not on his lunch menu.

There's no way on the face of this earth that you should ever take methotrexate !!! It is incredibly liver unfreindly. My Dad was on it for years for psorriasis & had to have LFTs done every three months. He was not supposed to drink because of the liver damage that could result from the drug but now, several years later he has liver spots & his skin is so thin that all he has to is scratch himself & he bruises.

I have ostopaosis from treatment and the hep.I also have rumatism but thats it and quite enough.

I've taken plaquinel for a long time. Went off of it when we lost our insurance. Does it seem to help you? I could never tell. I was on high dosages of prednisone for over 2 year's and no one want's to see a picture of what I looked like then. Well, except my daughter-in-law who has a picture in her living room. She loves me, huh? Half the doctor's say I have RA, half say I don't. I do have polymyositis which is an auto immune disease - a form of Muscular Dystrophy - muscle deteriation. That's why I was on the prednisone. I have to use a cane for step's and such since I can't lift my leg's very high. Some food's are really hard to swallow - most people that die from it is because they can't swallow. I won't get to start treatment for my hep until March or April. I think the smoking will kill me before anything. Can't quit, no matter how much I want to. Some have been talking about diabetes. I had steroid induced diabetes when I was on the prednisone and had to take 3 to 4 insulin shot's a day. Seem's okay now, tho. Is anyone familiar with neuropathy? Also, I had carpal tunnel surgery on both wrist's and now my left one seem's to be starting again. Has anyone been through that and do they do the surgery again? I'm losing muscle tone - is that the hep or the other? Anyone know? I'm starting to wrinkle like crazy and it's scary !!! Enough for now. Talk to you later.
