My husband is from Poland and nobody I spoke to has heard of it or kefir grains. And color me dumb but just to get it straight you said women stop drinking Kt during pregnancy in Ukraine? And to the newly pregnant Congrats...As for doing other things in pregnancy I say why chance it.If you have a miscarriage you will never forgive yourself! My personal tip for pregnancy is to refrain from bathing ( taking a bath) and take cooler showers for the 3 months when all the important body parts are being formed. Due to the heat build up in your body. They do not talk enough about the dangers of saunas and defects from heating the body while pregnant.Melody
Guest guest
Straight copying from my reply " no women would not STOP " (missed a coma after " no " , sorry) It's called " Chainiy Grib " , translation = " Tea Mushroom " . Kefir grains are probably not heard of because Kefir was/is propagated by the actual small portion of the left over kefir (when you atart another batch, so there are no " grains " ? Also, what generation are you speaking with? Also are they " city folks " (as in not from villages?) Though I can not speak for Poland obviously. Ukrainians had more influence from Mongols and Tatars historically and it might be that's where milk fermentation came from. > > > > Being from Russia (Ukraine to be exact) I'd say, no women would not > > STOP.
