Guest guest
Here is the US a 'strainer' is a 'colandar', as well. At least this is true in my part of the country. 'Sieve' is an old-fashioned term, maybe unknown to some, but I've always undersood it to another name for a 'strainer'. -Patty > > is there a difference between a 'strainer' and a 'sieve' in the US? As we call strainers 'colanders' OR 'strainers' here in the UK and a 'sieve' nowadays is usually made of plastic with a nylon insert in the UK. > Im asking because i wondered wether in the US 'sieve' and 'strainer' mean the same thing? or different terms were used in different parts of the country?
