Guest guest
Hey ,here in Boston, they use Knit Rite shirts...http://www.knitrite.com/orthotic-afo-spinal-interfaces.htmlChildren's typically has KnitRite shirts that have a seam under the arm but I had some KnitRite shirts that were seamless with a little flap that folds over and we found those to cause much less irritation / rashing under Noah's arm....From: heather@... <heather@...>Subject: Re: silver empregnetted antimicrobial t shirtsinfantile scoliosis treatment Date: Monday, March 21, 2011, 9:39 AM Can someone from SLC take a look at the tag on their kiddos under cast/brace t shirt, if possible? Guest guest
The shirts Kieran gets put on him at SLC are Knit-Rite. I am looking at the bag for them and it says Torso-Interface the original body sock at the top and Manufactured by Knit-Rite Incorporated at the bottom. ans #0022 0906 in the right bottom corner. The shirt is 95.6% CoolMax (registered trademark)/ 4.4% Lycra (registered trademark) or 90.6% Polyester/5% X-Static (registered trademark)/4.4% Lycra or 93% Cotton/7% Lycra Spandex. I know my son has come home with a shirt the odd time made from a different material than at other times. It looked the same but was thinner and felt more synthetic. The one he has on now feels like a Cotton/Lycra Spandex blend and I suspect that the one I did not like was Polyester/X-Static/Lycra. I would be surprised to hear he ever came home with the CoolMax/Lycra but I am sure that undershirt would be very comfortable and well fitting as I have purchased clothes that where Lycra and CoolMax for myself and been really happy with them and they seem to be the sort of materials that would lend themselves to being under a cast. One of the undershirts I was given wore out fast and was thin and felt like polyester. I think it was the polyester one and I did not like it. I am pretty certain we are in the cotton/ Lycra Spandex one right now and although it is thicker I do really like it comparatively. My son has had problems under the arms and with other sores that I am sure he would not get in the CoolMax/Lycra shirt. If I get a chance I take a picture of the packaging and send post it. There is no mention of antimicrobial silver in the material, but if CoolMax ends up having this in their formula I would not be surprised as their fibre is commonly used to manufacture really comfortable underlayers for sporting activities. This is why I think that SLC has not given my son the CoolMax/Lycra shirt because I am familiar with it's feel. Good luck with your enquiries! I don't know what SLC used in the past, but this is what they are using under Kieran's casts, and like I say, not every shirt he has gotten has been exactly the same material and some I have disliked, and I think it was the polyester ones.
