Hi Kim... check your insurance out further. I have Blue Cross through my employer, it will pay 80% of prescriptions for home use. I talked my clinic into giving me the shots, at an extra $25 each visit. But after my deductible, the insurance paid 80% up to $1500 out of pocket. They have been paying 100% since then because it is a procedure instead of a simple prescription. I worked it all out on paper before starting and don't remember now the exact figure on how much it saved me, but it was a lot. My clinic is great about allowing monthly payments on what I owe. Of course that is just for the Peg and Epogen or Neupogen, but it made the difference for me. Definitely wait until the new year though!

This may not help you, but worth looking into. Did they tell you how long you would have to do treatment? If you have 1a, normal tx is 48 weeks. That is what I have but am doing a year because of hospital time served. Otherwise I think it is a 6 month treatment.

With luck this might help. Llinda

Deb,

Things are getting really normal very quickly here!! Just some mild clean up in the yard. have family staying until their lights are turned back on and the kids are out of school til Wednesday, so the house is in clutter and chaos. Went back to work today--thanks God, peace and quiet!! Do not know what geno type or stage, have had my enzymes tested every 6 months from 02-04. Then changed jobs, which meant changing insurance companies and then the waiting period begins. I believe the wait is up in October, don't know if I'll go to the dr. this year or wait til next. Even though, my copay on the meds would be about 700-800/month. Can't afford it. Would like to check into studies??? Or does anyone know how I would go about applying for financial assistance? Hope all works out well with your transfer to San . Will you be moving there or commuting back and forth?

Llinda,

Thanks for the idea. I will start checking into that. I have never had a biopsy or other preliminary stuff, so I know all that will have to come first. I am waiting for the year waiting period to be up on my insurance so that I can go to my PCP and then be referred to a gastroenterologist. Then we'll go from there. I just don't want to be so sick that I can't enjoy my new granddaughter. She'll be here in November. Talk soon, KimLlinda <2llama@...> wrote:
