Guest guest
Hi all, Hope you are doing well. Got back my latest bloodwork. LDL 312, HDL 79, TG 55. C-reactive protein 3.59 apoB 186. I am concerned about the C-reactive protein and the apoB. Anyway, without making this too long, and after finally giving in to the doc regarding statins due to his scare tactics, I started taking 10mg of generic simvastatin last week. The doctor actually wanted to START me on 80 mg of Crestor!!!!!! Could you imagine that? Starting me off at the highest dose there is??!!! He also "couldn't remember which particle size was the large and which was the small." I straightened him out on this informing him that Particle size A is the large, bouyant and Particle size B is the small, dense LDL. If he was a PCP, I could understand the confusion but he's part of a Cardiology Group for heaven's sake!!! I told him starting me off at 80 mg of a statin drug was medically irresponsible and I would do nothing of the sort. So he wrote a prescription for 20 mg and I broke it in half, hence the 10mg. dose. It immediately gave me a stomach ache and a very bitter taste in my mouth. And I swear within a few days I felt what I can only describe as a mental "fog" that would come and go. However, after a few days I seemed to adjust and not be too bothered until today. The bitter taste is back and now I have gastric issues and some stomach pain. And no, this is definitely not a stomach virus. It's only been a week and I am so ready to ditch these drugs. The doctor of course said that 80% of the placebo group complained of the same symptoms as the control group, so it probably isn't really the statins. Right. Anyone want to throw in their 2 cents or more? Thanks, Be well and stay warm!
