Guest guest
[article following] Group, To the so-called doctors and snake-oil salesmen/women who've been responsible for foisting and forcing this dangerous drug upon unsuspecting and trusting patients over the years - shame on you, the manufacturers, the drug salesmen/women, the FDA (for not acting sooner), and those who should've known better and allowed this to happen. It was all about profits all along anyway. Wasn't it? Americans have been so brainwashed (by TV ads etc.) by the prescription drug industrial complex - re cholesterol - that this warning by the FDA will most likely be not believed by "ho saps." The FDA, other gov't agencies and the mindset of the so-called American people are like big ships - it takes a long time to turn it around. And in the interim many have suffered, died and even have been prescribed other drugs and treatments to mask the symptoms of prescription drug induced maladies. Recently during the Health Summit at the White House we discovered that one of the US Senators had questions about his father's-in-law prescription drug cocktail of 16 different drugs. When questioned about this cocktail his doctor (assume pcp) indicated he didn't know he was on that many drugs and quickly removed 8 of the 16 drugs from the patient. Indicating he didn't need the 8 drugs and also that two of the dugs would create side effects while being taken with the other drugs. My dear Aunt who at 94 was put on a statin drug when she was admitted to the hospital and nursing home. And the other day I was informed by a buddy of mine who said his lady-friend was taking 20 different prescription drugs. And there's plenty more as some of us already know and have experienced - extrapolate these examples around the country and see why the health care system and the health of American is in the state its in. Disease has reached epidemic proportions in the US. Even when the FDA has stated that cigarettes are dangerous to one's health - Americans continue with this risky and very expensive bad habit. Individuals waste thousands each year on this bad habit and then wonder why they can't pay the bills and even afford to pay minimal health insurance premiums. I can only hope that all of those folks who've been harmed by dangerous and unnecessary prescription drugs will get their day in court - before it's too late. Peace,, , bcc ps - other potentially dangerous and unnecessary drugs that pass through the human digestive system and into old sewage treatment plants then find their way into our reservoirs, wells, streams, rivers, food supplies etc. - and are then ingested by all including fish, wildlife and livestock. "There's no way that any God would've created such a dangerous, gullible creature like the various subspecies of homo sapiens - e.g., gullibillus ignoramus dangerosis americanus." - Carbone Jr. ________________________ FDA warning on cholesterol drug Zocor WASHINGTON -- The Food and Drug Administration said Friday the highest available dose of Zocor, a component in cholesterol drugs, can cause muscle damage as well as severe and potentially lethal kidney damage. The agency said statin drugs like Zocor are known to cause muscle damage in some patients, but the risk is more severe when patients are taking 80 milligram doses of Zocor, which is the highest FDA-approved dose. The side effects include rhabdomyolysis, a form of muscle damage that can lead to kidney damage or failure, and death. Zocor is the brand name for the drug used by Merck & Co. of Whitehouse Station, N.J. Its chemical name is simvastatin. Simvastatin, which is also part of Merck's cholesterol drug Vytorin and Abbott Laboratories' drug Simcor, is sold by 11 other generic drug makers including Dr. Reddy's Laboratories, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries, and Novartis' Sandoz division. FDA-approved doses of Zocor range from 5 milligrams to 80 milligrams. The FDA said the warning is based on clinical trials, studies, reports of side effects by users and prescription data. http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/story?section=news/health & id=7339772 ____________________ "The country is totally bankrupt and we are spending trillions of dollars on these useless wars.
