I've just joined this group and while it's all very well and good that one can just up and discontinue Lipitor because of side effects, what about someone like me who has a familial case of it where my count spikes around 800 so I MUST take a statin drug to keep it in the mid 200's. I've developed muscle pain but my doctors cannot pinpoint it to anything specific; I've had all sorts of tests. I was told to stay off it for two weeks but the pain persisted. Another doctor said two weeks was nowhere near enough time that it should have been more like six weeks. I've just had another series of blood tests done and have an appointment with this doctor in a few more days to see what those results are. I'm ready to throw my hands up in the air and take nothing and let the chips fall where they may.

I've been on statins for about 20 years and have just been getting muscle pain in the past year.
