Guest guest
Hi, my name is Kristi and I have a 3 3/4 yr old daughter, , and a 2 1/2 yr old son, Lawson Chase. My son, Lawson, has been through a lot already in his short life! If you would like to read more on him, you may visit his website: www.caringbridge.org/tn/lawson We have been looking for a diagnosis for my son now for 2 years. He has several issues going on with one of them being that he is sick ALL the time! We go from one infection to another. He started haveing ear infections at 6 months old and went through every antibiotic on the market, including Rocephin injections, and ended up with C-Diff Bacteria. We had tubes put in when he was 10 months old. In the past 6 weeks we have gone from ear infection, to croup, to strep throat, back to croup again, and now a sinus infection. He also gets unexplained fevers at high as 105 with no symptoms. They aren't the " life-threatening " infections, but still infections both viral and bacterial. He is not around kids at all and my daughter is NEVER sick so he is not catching things from her. She is not in daycare either. They both stay home with me. We are hoping to find out today when our appt with an immunologist will be. We have not had any IG levels checked yet. So we are not sure what we are looking at yet. I will try and update more when I can. I am glad to find this group and hope to learn more. Melody ( mom) told me what a great group you all are! Thanks Mel! Guest guest
Make sure they get a RVAD measurement. If it is 20+ then the curve is likely to be progressive and casting should be started. Most doctors do not cast before 9-12 months. So what you can do is pursue an MRI of the brain and spine, which are needed to rule our other conditions that are related to or could cause the scoliosis. Then you can schedule your casting. That will likely give the doctors a couple of months to take new x-rays and see how teh curve is responding.
