Good luck to you, Adele! I took my last dose of Lipitor 8 years ago. Monday I'm seeing a nephrologist to try to find out why my kidneys are failing. It will be interesting to see what his reaction is when I tell him about the horrific side effects I suffered (and still do) from the Lipitor. Will he deny it? My primary care doctor certainly blames the statins for the continuing decline in my health. From: Adele Weingartner <motheradele@...>Lipitor Sent: Thu, March 31, 2011 8:47:02 AMSubject: Re: Re: Aching and Sore Legs

I took my last one over three years ago, and have still not recovered. There are some of us who will never fully recover from this damage. I just hope and pray I do not get any worse!

Interesting theory, Bobby! Do you know if such a therapy has been tried? From: Olson <flyinresorts@...>Lipitor Sent: Thu, March 31, 2011 12:18:59 PMSubject: Re: Re: Aching and Sore Legs

Adele,I believe one possible solution for those who suffer slow or no recovery from statins would be to reverse the process. Administering IV with the very enzyme statins inhibit, enhancing metabolic production from the mevalonate pathway, thus restoring what was taken away.I sincerely believe enhancement of this metabolic pathway will facilitate recovery. Sorry, it looks like my stupid computer sent a premature reply a few

minutes ago.

Has anybody noticed two major trends in current medical practice, which

I think would get even worse under Obamacare "

Doctors ordering patients to take meds like the patient should be a

total puppet, no matter what??

Many of the more modern meds " work " by blocking or messing with normal

biochemical processes? Statins work by shortcircuiting cholestrol

processes; acid blockers like Pepcid work by blocking enzymes produced

by many different organs-(my son had what turned out to be a tumor on

the pancreas, but various drs had him on acid blockers for eight years

treating symptoms, and he had every horrible side effect in the book),

many blood sugar drugs work by messing with glucagon process in the

liver, many psychoactive drugs work by again messing with major

biochemical processes. Did anybody ever think that maybe, just maybe,

our bodies make cholestrol because it NEEDS it??? Do researchers think

they know more than God???

I have a very good friend whose father has been on hospice since last

July. At that time he wound up in the hospital with heart issues, and

they didn't think he'd make it. After a week, they took him off of all

his meds and sent him home. He is still hanging in there! His

insurance company is hassling the family because of the bills, and

saying " You weren't supposed to live this long! " From what I can

gather, the dad's mental function now is better than it was a year ago.

I personally got off of ALL the meds they had me on after a heart

attack ten years ago. I am still working full time and eat eggs,

cheese, yogurt, fish, chicken, fruits and veggies, very few carbs. My

weight has been stable for two years at the lowest level at 70 pounds

below my top weight and 30 more than my skinny college weight. What I

do take is cinnamon for sugar, MSN for joints, hyaluranic acid,

benfothiamine and folic acid for neuropathy, and COQ10 and fish oil.

Just in the last few months I feel like I'm finally coming out of the

leftover mental fog that goes back to getting off of Mevacor in 2004

(there was a major improvement at 2 weeks, more in the first year, and

finally....)

Not just med pushers, but in general, bullies that treat everyone like

an ignorant child.

Has anyone else had tooth and gum issues that got worse with statins?

Alas Bobby this will not solve the problem! Blocking cholesterol also blocks

CO-Q10 and Co-q10 is the main antioxident for the mitochondria in addition to

being an integral part of the electron transport chain where 34 out of 38 of the

ATP molecules for every cycle (in a healthy person)are created. It is the

antioxident properties that cause (when missing)the real long term problem and

that is MUTATIONS. mutations in the mtDNA and nDNA cause all of the long term

symptoms are from. While DNA has repair functions, those functions are

overwhelmed by the onslaught. there is no real recovery...function will improve

some from whatever repairs are occomplished but that's it AND every time one of

us pushes to hard more mutations occur.

When the mutation occurs - does it then 'mimic' all these other conditions - or

does it really become something else? Because when the statin purges the system

of everything, it would appear that the body implodes with every condition known

to man. When you inform your Dr or specialist of this fact - they think that you

are some kind of hypochondriac. I know because after experiencing every side

effect over the past 5 yrs (3 yrs Statin free) I am left suffering with severe

memory loss, cognitive problems and muscle myopathy - all over my body. I have

lost between 60-70% of my muscles as they appear to be cannabalising

themselves. My neurologist cannot explain it, and will not accept the statin

responsible .My immunologist does however state that statins sometimes may

damage muscle - however once stopped all should be well!!!Ha Ha.Pamela

exactly correct. The damage is done. not only that but the stage is set for

further damage. with comprimised mitochondria, ATP production relies more and

more on processes that produce greater levels of free radicals and that in turn

causes further mutations. the only way to avoid this is to pace yourself (at a

greatly reduced pace) so as not to require switching over to the " dirtier "

processes. Typically the more active the " victim " is the slower any recovery is

and the more likely that the condition will degrade even further.

This is exactly what happened to me. My CPK levels had slowly been going down over the past 3 years, and then this fall I joined the "Y" and did some agressive walking around the track 3 to 4 times a week and also lifted weights and worked out on the machines. If I overdid the exercise, my thigh muscles would just burn for a few days afterwards. When I had my bloodwork done after doing this for about 4 months, my CPK had gone back up to where it had originally been with the statin poisoning--my HDL went down 5 or 6 points as well, and my triglycerides were quite high. I've learned my lesson, and I hope by just doing moderate walking a few times a week, my CPK will go back down again. I hate that this condition is irreversible! Adele Weingartner

Pamela,

Actually the mutations that matter effect the cellular metabolism to the point

that every function in the body that requires energy becomes comprimised. even

cell types not affected by the mutations are dragged down as ATP is depleted

from heavy usage cells the bodies ability to replace the ATP from natural losses

begins to affect all organs and systems....you will find that All symptoms go

away if you do nothing and allow atp stores to rebuild....

Have your neurologist look into the connection between ATP depletion and

apoptosis (cell suicide). or better yet find one that knows. the connection

between statins, co-q10, atp production, ATP depletion, and cell death is claer

to anyone with half a brain...
