Hi,

I went to a naturalpathic doctor 2 years ago just too see how she

would deal with heart disease and guess what? She was all set to give

me RED YEAST RICE which is a statin drug in its natural form. I

thanked her, paid her for her advice and never went back to her.

Grapefruit pectin? I thought you weren't supposed to eat ANY

grapefruit while taking ANY statins? Isn't that dangerous?

Why is your doctor doing that?

Also, why is your doctor combining policosanol and RYR?

High cholesterol DOES NOT cause heart disease. Rather high cholesterol

is the result of atherosclerosis/arteriosclerosis. The heart disease

is caused because the artery walls are inflamed and need strengthening

via nutrition. Dummy MDs and even many naturalpaths are sitting on

their brains. phine

phine, I had the same experience a while back. I chalked it up to ignorance on the doctor's part, although she called herself an integrative doctor. I no longer go to her. But look at it like this: at least your doctor wasn't trying to help Big Pharma rake in more billions! (I know, that's only just barely on the plus side of the equation, but it's a start.) Good for you for not going back!jlkinkona <josephine@...> wrote: Hi,I went to a naturalpathic doctor 2 years ago just too see how shewould deal with heart

Hmm, Is it grapefuit "pectin" or grapefruit seed extract which would be used for candidiasis or "candida?"

I also question the potential dangers of the two "drugs" combined.

Let us know.

Ok, I just went to You Tube and accessed a video by Dr. Beatrice Golomb from UCSD on the "Statins and Heart Attacks." It's about 56 minutes long and VERY informative. Just when it got the when she said "people on statins tended to die sooner" the whole thing forze and I can't get it to continue!

There's about 20 minutes left to this lecture and I can't watch it!!!!

I'm hearing the theme to The Twilight Zone right now.

If anyone else can view it in its entirety can you report back here?

Did you just now start taking lipitor after your heart attack? My

husband passed away last year at the age of 56 of a massive heart

attack. His cholesterol was in the normal range. My father also died

of a massive heart attack and he too had normal cholesterol levels. I

think your physician needs to run more tests to see just what caused

this heart attack. I don't believe for one moment that it was because

of high cholesterol. I would not take any statins. If you feel you

must lower your cholesterol, do it by natural supplements, vitamins,

exercise, and diet. It works!

Welcome! You're in the right place.

I'm 6'1 and 253 pounds and have lifted the wheel of a VW Beetle off the ground (when i was younger). After 6 months on Zocor I couldn't drive a screw into a board because the muscle pain in my arm stopped me every 1/3 of a turn. But my doctor said my blood work was fine. I stopped statins and guess what? i just finished remodeling our bathroom and I feel great!

I did just start taking it after my 9-7 " event. "

I am pretty skeptical about any cholesterol connection but at the

same time my research to date suggests that even some anti-statin

advocates think their anti-inflammatory properties may be a reason to

take one at least for a short time following an MI. I am taking with

a grain of salt what my big hospital/big pharma cardiologist says

(even though he saved my life!!) but my primary care physician -- who

is at a very reputable integrative/alternative medicine center --

told me to stay on the statin at least for now to reduce arterial

inflammation.

I just wanted to say that as of last night I am no longer taking the

prescription for Tricor. I went to bed at 7 pm because I felt so lousy ... pain

in my shoulders... pain and weakness in my legs.

I can't feel like this ... will tell my cardiologist that got off it because of

the side effects.

He assured me that Tricor is nothing like any of the other " or " s... Lipitor,

Crestor, Zocor... bull. All drugs that end in a OR are the same. A statin is a

statin is a statin.

I have felt the same side effects with all of them and end up going off of them

soon. Only to find that the pain went away almost as soon as I stopped taking

it.
