Guest guest
What I want to know is who is " they " that has set the preferred cholesterol level for 150 ... were these the same group of marketers, or doctors, or clandestine group of pharmaceutical representatives who got together and just come up with arbitrary numbers ... why did the 250 a few years ago turn to 200 and now to 150 ? Why not 214? Who is the " they " I always hear about. " They " surely must be a knowledgeable medical group that meets every five years and compares the numbers for the entire population of the face of planet and by doing some fancy math equation " " they determine what the proper level is since " they " are looking out for our best interest. [sarcasm] Is it the FDA? .. sure I am going to trust them. Is it the FBI? .. why not? Their judgment on the subject has about the same effect as that of the FDA. Is it the IRS? See above. Who the heck is " they " that determines the magic number for all doctors to determine if you should take a statin or not? On another subject ... but still about statins ... I was just talking with the owners of the supplement store in town where I get much of my supplements. And they were telling me about a woman who came into the store a few weeks ago and she said she was on Lipitor for the past 10 years and has felt tired with aches and pains all over in the last few years. told her about statins and what they did. This woman went home and stopped taking her Lipitor and one week later she felt as she did ten years earlier. She said she was never taking Lipitor again. The doctors even tell you can't just quit cold turkey from the statins once you start them ... how many of us in this group just quit cold turkey? I know I did from Lipitor, from Zocor and now Tricor. I wonder if " they " are taking a statin for I bet they can't be less than 150. What statin is your doctor taking? I bet he isn't taking any. Who is " they " ?
