Bobby, May I ask, do you have personal experience with thyroid disease? I think

in some replies to me in the past, you suggested a link between hypothyroidism

and higher cholesterol levels. If you are knowledgeable about thyroid, I would

like to have your opinion on some past thyroid tests I had done.

In July 2008, my TSH was 1.44 and the next result from Feb. 2009, my TSH had

gone up to 3.71. I also have fingernails in very bad condition, hair thinning

for many years and now much worse. Other tests for hormones, etc were in the

normal range.

I was prescribed Zocor around 1999, because I have type 2 diabetes and my total

Ch. crept over 200, an increased risk for heart disease in diabetics I was told.

Within 3 months, I started having pains in my arms, shoulders and right elbow,

and knees. I got a printout of my medications from my local pharmacy, and

noticed that 3 months after the Zocor is when I started needing

anti-inflammatory meds and pain meds. This progressed to tennis elbow (partially

torn tendon) and calcified shoulder tendonitis and eventually 2 frozen

shoulders, repeated cortisone shots (3 in elbow) and shoulders and knees. Also,

4 rounds of P/T in 2 years for shoulders and elbow, which always made me worse.

I developed biceps tendonitis from the strength and resistance exercises. I

believe I had become exercise intolerant.

I just had my thyroid retested and should find out the results shortly. Someone

on a forum for female hair loss suggested I have subclinical

hypothyroidism at 3.71. I was always told by my docs (gp and endo) that I was

in the normal range.

Would an increase in TSH like the one above in an 8 months time span be normal?

Any thoughts, Bobby?

Connie
